Recommends it for: Anyone interested in MindScience.
Ever wonder what's happening in the mind scientifically when advanced Buddhist monks meditate vs. a Catholic priest or beginning meditator? For a fascinating exploration into brainwaves and biofeedback and how to access and train in achieving an awakened mind, read this book. Most lackeys like myself can hardly get past Beta and some Alpha. The englightened ones demonstrate lots of Theta and especially Delta waves in clinical tests... Be forewarned however: too much Theta and Delat waves can lea ...more

This book is part of a trilogy of sorts, beginning with Anna Wise's teacher, Maxwell Cade and his "Awakened Mind" book written in the late 70s, and ending with Judith Pennington, who studied under Anna Wise, and her "Your Psychic Soul", written in 2012. In my opinion, Pennington's book is better because it's more up-to-date and comprehensive, which is why I've given this one 4 stars. That said, it's an excellent book about how you can learn how to recognise and control your brainwave states to a ...more

Mastering these brainwaves through meditation ...more

track 1
the music is ok but too much in the background. The words are overly enunciated and the manner reminds me of my 4th grade teacher. It is not pleasant but the instructions might work, I don't know.

track 2 starts with water sounds with birds calls, with music coming in. It becomes piano with chimes in the foreground with the original background.

I loved that book because it does not reduce the mind to a brainwave pattern. The author never advocates the nihilist view that our state of mind is the mere result of some frequency in the brain activity. There is a correlation, but never a causation stated in any direction.
