***HERE, THERE BE SPOILERS***

3.5 stars

This was fast-moving, with a lot of action & intrigue. But I felt as though the characters were not explored enough. The narration centered mostly around the doc (and how he felt about what was happening with Max & Esther), and I felt I hardly knew anything about him at all.

On the other hand, for the bulk of the book having focused on Max & Esther, we didn't get to see much of them together. I felt like I was grasping for the scenes where the two of them were together. There was only one real scene where Esther was shown to be afraid of Max after he had taken her. I wanted to know more about Max -- he was the most complex, intriguing character in the story, yet I felt as though his complexities were glossed over throughout the book, in favor of action sequences.

All in all, the concept was great, but the execution didn't live up to its potential. Nevertheless, it was a quick, entertaining read.

One young girl's kind act to a little boy is not forgotten. Twenty years later he is now a rising young artist who is completely taken by what happened to him as a child. He sees her in his mind as the years pass and creates paintings and sculptures using his imagination as to how she looks in the present. A series of coincidences brings them finally together as they are both involved in a terrifying situation where there is still another person who is desiring to have her for himself.
A fast moving story with lots of plot twists. All in all an enjoyable read.

How many times

Can a single woman be kidnapped in 48 hours? This was a riveting and amusing answer to search for while reading Hope to Escape! Personally, I lost track but the author summarized near the end. Still trying to wrap my brain around the answer lol :)

I've had this book in my e-library for years and finally got around to reading it. I'm so glad I did! I loved the characters and hoped throughout the book that Ess and Max would somehow end up together. The story was non-stop riveting. So suspenseful! So humorous too, in parts. I will definitely be reading more books by Jack Parker.

Started out ok but

I Chose the rating for several reasons . The first and foremost being that whoever wrote this book didn't really stop and think the plot out very well because there's a lot of a lot of bits and parts in it that don't make sense. In addition to the plot problems , some of the wording in the book doesn't make any sense . It appears as if the author had a thesaurus next to him when he was writing a book and occasionally would just look a word up and slap it in. Some of them went where they were put and some of them did not , making a lot of the wording hard to follow . This is very distracting when you're trying to read a book and you have to stop and think about what the author is trying to write about in order for the story to make sense . Some of the out of place words were just wrong and did not belong in the sentence. Please, please ! When you're going to publish a book , whether it be on Amazon or anywhere else, please make sure your grammar is correct because it's very, very disconcerting to read sentences and structure that don't make sense . Also, do not put in all of the blank pages to make the book look longer.

Ok. Not bad not good.

Predictable and simply written. The story line was OK, it kept my interest. But the story had some things that were supposed to be twists that really just seemed like the author was trying too hard and didn't really flow or seem realistic.

I wish six stars were available.

I loved this book. The story was both sad and filled with hope. The characters were marvelous. I hope the author will publish another book continuing the story.

Very different from what I expected based on the title. There are some characters that are insufferable. Very action packed and as I was reading it reminded me of ‘There’s Something About Mary’ for some reason. Very unexpected ending.

Stunk

Horrible hype sucked me in to one of the worst reads of my experience in fiction! Lousy story line and worse writing.
