Shelves: non-fiction, food
I was expecting an interesting take on Southeast Asian food and a fresh perspective on the inter-dependence of food and culture but this is not what I am looking for. The narrative is very dry and written in the same style of a Cliff's Note. It reads like a summary of a textbook with quite shallow analysis of the rich cultures found in this part of the world. This was not written with passions and does not convey the spices of the region.
