Great book. Very easy read. Some points/instructions he gives need clarification, but I hope to find that clarification via youtube videos.

Interesting book for sure. Tom Dokken is an excellent trainer and he certainly knows how to bring his knowledge of Retriever training straight to the reader. I only gave the book three stars because I do not agree with all of Tom's methods with training especially crate training. We had every intention of training our Pointer rescue by Tom's method's but Penny became more of a family pet than a working retriever and she is absolutely spoiled with table scraps and bed time (no crate).
I will say though that I have used a few of Tom's methods recently on my two Great Dane pups in the areas of mouthy pup, and coming when called.
Overall not a bad reference book and definitely a good read for those who are just starting to Retriever train.

An excellent step by step action plan for training your dog to hunt. I read several books on bird-dog training for my Black Lab. THIS is the one I keep going back to. Highly recommended.
