Once Bitten

It isn’t easy being an evil genius. Just ask Donovan Grant, author of the Internet’s first foolproof copyright-protection software. Hollywood adores him, but he’s no hero to the millions who loved downloading free copies of their favorite TV shows. Insanely rich, or maybe just insane, he blew his royalties on a private island in the Caribbean where he pursues his not-so-private obsessions, like photographing young ladies bound in expensive leather and posting the results on his no-cost web site, exsx.org. But when your sexual preference is dominance, nothing less than world domination will do. With the help of a wide-eyed apprentice from Glasgow, a ganja-sucking bodyguard, a jaded hacker, and a surly cheerleader-turned-dominatrix named Sindie, Grant is getting ready to launch his revenge on everyone who thinks he’s nothing but a one-trick ponyboy who got lucky. Like Carroll Farmer, the take-no-prisoners tech reporter with a few axes to grind, preferably on whomever’s tied to her bed tonight. Sparks (and other implements) fly when her editor/former flame sends her across the Atlantic to profile the reclusive Mr. Grant. Carroll is determined to uncover Donovan’s secrets, but events and emotions conspire to expose a few of her own, resulting in a wild ride through the dark side of dreams made real. Dazzling, occasionally depraved and inevitably breathless, "Once Bitten" reads like a turbocharged duet between Carl Hiassen and the Marquis de Sade. Award-winning authors Adrian Hunter and Chelsea Shepard have concocted a seriously-sexy caper that spans the globe in search of nice vice, twisted truths, cruel love and freedom in restraint. Fast, fun and funny, "Once Bitten" puts the "bon!" back into bondage...where it belongs.

Every now and then, a book comes along sold under the adult banner that is not just about page after page of sex. Instead, it reads more like a mainstream novel in that there is a discernible plot, storyline, character development, etc. the only difference is that the novel has the added sexuality element that the major publishers stay away from unless you are an incredibly big name novelist. Such is the case here.

They say money can't buy happiness, but that isn't the way Donovan Grant sees it. Donovan is rich, if not absolutely super rich. Donovan Grant would knock Bill Gates down a few pegs on the money scale. He has amassed a large fortune from his invention that protects the copyright of videos through the Internet. No longer can videos and other products be copied over and over and shared online earning the creators in the original product no money at all. Hollywood execs have been thrilled and paid very well to use his technology while the same people who approved of the Napster style tactics are horrified and disgusted. The people against his technology are a very vocal bunch, but Donovan has laughed all the way to the bank. Then, he took a chunk of his new money and purchased his own private island in the British Virgin Islands, named the Jost Van Dyke.

Every now and then, he goes off of his island for a little while and drifts into the bar known as the Krusty Conch. There, he never knows what he might pick up in female entertainment and what they might allow him to do. Donovan is a man of wealth and interesting tastes in the sexuality department. As the novel opens, he meets the very drunk Michelle and her equally smashed friend, Debbie. He is having a good time with them and sexual desires including the art of bondage among other things are briefly discussed, before Michelle suddenly remembers where she has seen the famous Donovan Grant before. Michelle is unable to understand the point of Donovan's invention and begins to argue loudly with him. He suffers her insults for a little while, before explaining fully and completely the point of his invention and the need for it in the modern Internet world. After arguing the issue with him, she has had enough and wants to leave.
"Debbie pretended not to hear soon-to-be-ex best friend as her internal search engine spat up metatag matches to keywords like 'single,' 'cute,' and, to her thrilling surprise, 'kinky.'"
Debbie does not care about the argument; the lady is very interested in the possibilities of his world. Soon Debbie is off with Donovan and headed quickly back to his island.

Having your own private island is wonderful on its own, especially when you like domination and bondage. With his privacy and his resources, he is able to construct his own bondage fantasy world. A lady can make all the noise she wants and there are no annoying neighbors to interfere. In pleasuring himself, he also brings pleasure to millions who visit his sites daily through the internet, via his free and his paying sites. But, the fortune and the fact that millions around the world access his sites isn't enough. He has come up with a program that by taking advantage of his millions of users will help him dominate the world through the internet. He will have total control over the internet and the neat thing is that his fans will trigger it themselves.

At the same time, half a world away a young woman by the name of Carroll Farmer is having another unsatisfactory bondage experience. While the man bound and writhing on the bed beneath her is trying his hardest, he simply can't give her what she craves. Her work life isn't that much better, as she is Associate Editor for Netconomy, England's leading internet magazine. While she has the title, she does not seem to have the control to go along with it. She still writes and reports most of the stories herself, and her boss wants her to go to Amsterdam to interview the famous porn Webmaster Dirk Meessens. She goes very reluctantly and her fears are confirmed after she watches one of his women perform. The experience shakes her to her core as it reminds her of the past and desires that once awakened were never dealt with properly. Donovan Grant awakened those desires and then after a stupid disagreement left her and she has never found another that made her feel the same way. Because of his link with Meessens, her editor makes her follow the trail to Donovan Grant and his island, and unwittingly straight into his ultimate plan for world domination.

At 268 pages, this is a very enjoyable and arousing novel with complicated and interesting characters. There are plenty of twists and turns, as this adventure style novel that just happens to have plenty of graphic sex thrown in, winds its way to an intriguing conclusion. That fact, plus the amusing social commentary sprinkled through out the work as well as just flat funny bits of dialogue makes this a must read.

I loved this book!

It's rare to find a book as exciting and well written as this. Adrian Hunter and Chelsea Shepard deserve all the awards this book has already won and more in the future - Wow!

First off let me say the bondage is hot! And unlike almost all the other books out there, it's consensual. And I don't mean in the usual girl gets raped and likes it way we usually see. No, the people in this book look for, find, and enjoy the BDSM games they participate in - well 95 percent of the book anyway.

Secondly, the story is engrossing. We're all wondering where the internet is going and this book takes a short step into the future and shows us one possible path. It's a good technical story and a good dramatic story too. Even if you ignored the naughty bits it would still be an excellent book.

Carroll Farmer is a magazine write who likes to tie up her lovers. When she gets the assignment to interview a billionaire recluse on a BDSM island in the British Virgin Islands her BDSM experience level gets a rocket ship ride. Her host, Donovan Grant, expands her limits and makes her fantasies come true.

Donovan Grant is a billionaire BDSM aficionado with unlimited budget in his own country. Who could ask for a better set up for incredibly kinky over-the-top fun. He hires models from around the world and auditions locals from the islands to create some truly memorable and erotically charged scenes. Excellent toys, excellent fashion, excellent scenes!

Sindie, his dominatrix assistant, uses the website to attract clients and they pay enormous sums of money to travel to the island and serve under her boots. Can you imagine bidding five figures to be dominated by a beautiful black leathered Dominatrix? And as a bonus your servitude and suffering is filmed and posted on the internet. We're entertained by short interruptions as she parades her weekly slave, bound and leashed, though key scenes in the book. Wow this book is creative.

An added plus to this book is the contemporary references throughout this book, like song lyrics and current TV dialog.
