I couldn’t get past the first story to get to the second. It starts off full of misogyny constantly calling her “lady cop” and making comments about how nice her body is and implying that it’s wasted as a cop. Add in the abuse of power from her position as a cop and I couldn’t even tolerate 30 pages.
I love reading Duets because the two stories usually play off each other in some way, and I'm a total sucker for supporting characters. These two stories by Carol Finch didn't disappoint at all. I loved both cowboy heroes and headstrong heroines very much. My only complaint would be the over-the-top "black moment" in Mr. Cool Under Fire. However, even that ridiculous bathroom scene didn't deter from the overall appeal.
A good one that keeps you on your toes. Great to read anytime. It has suspense, humor, great characters and personalities, friends and family, sparks and bantering, and a little sauciness. Good endings. I enjoyed reading both stories in this book and this would definitely be a keeper. Wanting to read more. Good for the lazy-day immersion. Enjoy!
