Maurine Leander Noble was a pioneering figure in the world of machine quilting, a published author, dedicated teacher, and cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. Born in Seattle in 1932, she earned her degree from Oregon State University, where she met her husband Ed. His military service brought them across the globe, enriching Maurine’s life and artistic vision. She authored three influential quilting books, beginning with Machine Quilting Made Easy in 1994, and taught her craft across the U.S., Canada, and South Africa. Her generosity extended beyond teaching—she founded The Plymouth PieceMakers, a quilting group devoted to supporting those in need through handmade quilts. This effort expanded into Plymouth Healing Communities, providing comfort to individuals facing mental illness and homelessness. Known for her compassion, grace, and love for family, Maurine left a lasting legacy both in the quilting community and among those who knew and loved her.
Great book for learning to machine quilt. I love this and plan to follow it step-by-step. A lot of the questions I was left with after reading other sources are answered here. Note for beginners: this book covers actual quilting, not patchwork - stitching and texture, not color.
