This is nonfiction for intermediate to advanced readers. Dog lovers of any age would love this book. It’s slim so it’s unable to give a nod to all breeds (my favorite was left out) but it sure does cover a number of them. It’s not a book I can see primary readers being able to read alone, but it’s one I can see being immensely enjoyed by that age group. It has great pictures and nice basic descriptions about a few breeds and the different categories of dogs, it even goes into a bit of care. It would be a good place to start if a child is interested in having a dog. If a classroom is talking about animals it could be a good thing to bring in too. It doesn’t go into great detail on anything, so it’s only a starting point if anyone wants to really get an in-depth look at much of anything dealing with dogs.
