If I could give this book 6 stars I would! This book is profound! Virginia approaches trauma by utilizing Lifescripting and as a therapist myself I really enjoyed doing it on my life! It’s different from conventional therapies in that it does not require you to relive your trauma, rather it requires you to learn the lessons that have contributed to your maladaptive behaviors and cognitions. By doing this, you are not only learning the lesson but you are doing it from a place of love instead of judgement. Once you truly understand your upbringing will you have a better understanding of yourself. In a time of chaos, this book helps to understand others’ decisions and actions and when we view their actions as a lack/deprivation from childhood compassion sets in, making it easier to empathize with people. Not excuse their behavior but empathize. This is a book EVERYONE should have on their shelf.

This book was the ultimate game changer for me. It helped me overcome behaviors that I believed was simply a part of my genetic make-up by giving me the tools to take a deep look into my past. I learned that nothing I did was by chance and instead was a result of the beliefs that I had gained from my childhood. Once I understood this, I was able to face the behaviors that I did not particularly agree with and create new ones. This was the most powerful step that I have ever taken in my life. Even the simplest traits that I did not mind such as sleeping near walls wrapped tight into my blanket. I was able to unravel why I did this, which was because I was born premature and premature babies are put into incubators in the same manner. It was a trait that I was taught long before I knew anything about belief systems, She explains the mundane and the profound in one powerful purple book!
