They sure were making cops in interesting packages these days. Colt Nightshade couldn't believe his luck partnering on a case with Lieutenant Althea Grayson. But the breathtaking detective was strictly by-the-book and had no use for Colt's easygoing renegade style. Thawing the heart of this enticing ice goddess just might be the toughest challenge Colt had ever faced.

Though this story held as much intensity as the previous two in the Night Tales series (maybe even a little more of it, thanks to the topic), it was also thinly veiled with humor, thanks to the hero, Colt Nightshade, and his "shenanigans".
It wasn't made humorous to mock the topic of abuse and violence, but to keep it from sinking under its weight. And I guess that's what Colt's character was all about. He was an intensely passionate man, but kept it all hidden under a veneer of light banter and
Loved catching up with Althea as thought she was fabulous in Night Shift, loved Colt too they were well matched. Great story!

I didn't like it much, didn't dislike it also, it was just okay, nothing special.
The heroine keeps addressing the hero with his surname, is all independent and self-sufficient, the hero makes all the moves, oh and she also has a lot of past baggage(abused as a child).
He's a former air-force guy, lawyer and does a lot of other stuff and is searching for the daughter of a friend, partners up with Thea, who is a Lieutenant and is attracted like hell to her. The romance didn't work that we

Colt Nightshade's friends ask for his help in finding their teenage daughter who has run away so he promises to find her. He likes to work alone and doesn't worry about following the rules but his friend, the Captain of the Denver police department makes him partner with Lieutenant Althea Grayson, who always follows the rules. Althea was the captain's former partner. Since he knows them both well he thinks they will work well together. Even though they are opposites and used to handling cases di ...more

I read this years ago. I think the TV show Bones is based on this storyline. Strict Ice Princess with a cowboy cop can be explosive. This one is not too bad. It is Ms. Roberts who still wrote sweet contemporary w/o the edge.

Gostei... um romance muito estilo que a Nora já nos habitou. Até agora foi o que gostei mais desta série.

I got passed a copy of the book my a friend. I have never read a Nora Roberts book before so wasn't sure what to expect.

This particular story is about Colt Nightshade and Thea Grayson. Colt is a private investigator sent to track down a missing runaways girl. Thea is a cop at the local precinct.

The story starts well and focuses on Colt interviewing a snitch for information on where the missing girl might be, before the snitch can give any information there is a drive by shooting and he's gunned

This is a five book series so I will do one review for all five. The books are great. The characters are easy to like although at times you wonder what they are thinking. The 3rd one has an odd twist that doesn't really fit in with the series but doesn't diminish from the storyline. I would recommend all these books although not so much to be listened to as the narrator isn't the best. I almost didn't listen to the series but I'm glad I did.

Each book in the series gets better than the last . The pairing of Colt and Althea was perfect with both characters always finding ways to make sure that you follow them to find Liz and bring her back home . Along the way Althea struggles to accept the fact she has fallen in love with Colt afraid to comment to him . Finally letting go of her fears she's ready to become part of a family , one that she never had .

Similarly to my reviews on the other books in this series, I wish this book was a bit longer (to allow for greater character development) like in Nora Roberts' more recent novels. Additionally, I feel like Althea's character was partially used as the model for Eve in the In Death series.

Another Nora Roberts series I missed, Night Series. And again. What can I say? She rights with many twists and turns with great character development. Love her books as she usually ends all her books with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Looking forward to rest of series.

Colt and Althea

They made good partners. He wore her down. She finally accepted that he loved her completely as the person she was.

I really enjoyed this one. It's the first time I fell into the series., which it turns out I actually own all of them. I'm going to go enjoy those in next month's reading list. So this is an older book and you can definitely tell. I always say books are like time capsules of our culture, because this one showcases the fact that we used have no problem with smoking in our communities and in our homes.

::POSSIBLE SPOILERS IF YOU DON'T READ MUCH ROMANCE - If you feel I should have flagged it as a "Spoiler", please let me know in the Comments::

Back in the early 1990s Nora Roberts wrote a quartet of short romance novels for Silhouette Intimate Tales that later got bundled under the heading NIGHT TALES. In them, she experimented, within the confines of category romance, with many themes and character types that would later show up in her long-running IN DEATH series. One of the books Eve Dallas an

Author: Nora Roberts
First published: 1993
Length: 201 pages
Setting: Contemporary. Urbana, USA (wherever that is, Maybe Atlanta?).
Sex: Infrequent, explicit.
Hero: Wealthy. Former AF pilot. Lawyer. PI.
Heroine: Police Detective
Trigger: Rape. Child rape. Violence. Drugs. Prostitution.

First of all, the plot revolves around the search for a 12yo runaway who has been picked up by adult-movie makers, drugged, raped. Movies go from violent to snuff. None of it explicit but definitely plot motivator.

I have real trouble with a hero called Colt Nightshade… I’m sorry, but that name is just laughable. He sounds like he should be in gay cowboy porn or something. I didn’t read the first two books; not aware of their existence. Maybe that would help; maybe not. I’m not sure who the MCs are in those, anyway.

Althea is a tough cookie - we know because she tells us so. But she is a cop, a beautiful, single woman with male friends and pesky dates she doesn't respect. At least until she catches sight of

No 1º livro, Cilla trabalhava de noite ...more

A nothing read. There is absolutely no value in this book. The writing style is also very old-fashioned. I detested it. I found myself becoming very irritated with the obsession over the character's looks. In almost every sentence the writer has to stress the beauty of her character. It was such a generic story. Boy meets girl, sparks fly, they don't get along, dark pasts etc. These sorts of books might have worked in the time it was published, but definitely not now, unlike books written by Geo ...more

My least favorite in this series isn't saying much because of how wonderful all the stories are. It might be because it basically has to do with missing teen, pornography, and violence. Knowing it goes on is one thing but reading it for entertainment is another.

After listening to this story, I take back what I said. Yes, it is disturbing because what is described is really happening, a lot! But, this is my review after listening in 2017:

An excellent story. I really like Althea. She is a great ex

My second favorite in the series follows Boyd's former partner, Althea Grayson as she meets up with Colt Nightshade. Althea is partnered with Nightshade when he comes to town to investigate the disappearance of the daughter of friends. As Althea and Colt work together to find out what happened and where the daughter is, they of course, grow closer and fall in love, but they do it with style and humor that is classic Roberts.

Colt's humor and Thea's compassion make for a fun story.

Of the Night series this one was one of the best. A good balance between the violent crime world, the volatile main characters and the really soft and sweet love story. A bit incredible, but then that's why reading Romance novels is called escapism :)

Althea was nearly to the bottom before she realized she’d been conned. The two sisters had pulled off the good cop/bad cop routine like pros. Now her stomach jumped. There were flowers everywhere, banks of color and scent. There was music, soft, romantic. She saw Colt’s mother leaning heavily against his father and smiling bravely through a mist of tears. She saw Natalie beaming and dabbing at her eyes. Deborah, her lashes wet, cradling Adrianna. There was Boyd, reaching out to take Cilla’s hand, kissing her damp cheek before looking back at Althea to give her an encouraging wink. Althea came to a dead stop.
