Easily one of the best compilation pieces I've ever read, as evidenced by the fact that it's one of the only compilations I've actually read in its entirety. Features classic pieces and excerpts from last century's greatest historians discussing last century's greatest events: the cultural underpinnings of WWI, appeasement, totalitarianism and fascism, atomic diplomacy, decolonization, and the origins and conclusion of the cold war. Anyone interested in the story of the human race over the last 100 years needs to at least glance through the table of contents and bear them in mind for a read at some point.
