That was the day I went from being the hero of my story... to being the villain. When Charlotte "Lottie" Buchanan's family inherits River's End, the hauntingly beautiful Southern mansion nestled deep within the bayou, she hopes this second chance is just what her family needs. Over the years, Lottie finds solace in the spirited home and longs for her happily ever after. However, high society isn't what it seems, and finding a genuine relationship proves challenging, especially when she has difficulty denying her feelings for Bennett, the son of the groundskeeper at River's End. Lottie discovers that the bayou is filled with its own secrets, some of which change her life for eternity. After a series of macabre events, Lottie learns that in order to find her happiness, she must first find strength and faith in herself despite her circumstances. Only then she can enjoy the life she has...till death.
ARC review- I had no idea what I was in for with this book but I am so glad I got to read this. This was an easy quick read and you can tell the author became more confident with the writing, the characters and the storyline as the book went on.
Lottie and Bennett have this amazing relationship and chemistry that you could feel throughout the story. Complete twist that I never saw coming. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see that relationship bloom throughout. I really enjoyed seeing Lottie bloom and become This strong and confident female especially for the time period. This was not my typical type of book that I read, but so worth it.
Congratulations to this author on her debut book. Well done and I can't wait to see more from her.
I was kindly gifted a copy of Till Death by the author, Breck Suzanne. Thank you so much for this opportunity!
When I first heard about Till Death I was desperate to read it, a seemingly forbidden romance set in a haunted mansion located in the South, influenced by Disney’s Haunted Mansion?
Errmm yes!
So I went into it with really high hopes and although I did enjoy it, I gave the book a 3.5/5 star rating in the end. I enjoyed the story overall, there was just a few little bits which bugged me enough that I couldn’t love it.
First of all the premise is exciting, I love the Haunted Mansion at Disney, the ride has always been a favourite and the movie not so bad either! The beginning of the book really set it up for an eery setting, the mansion was described as having a mind of its own but in a sense to help characters rather than torment.
However aside from a few mentions at the beginning and end there was little more said of it! I would have loved to have explored more of the building, maybe even some look into why it’s haunted or why these things are happening, but sadly the only time it was mentioned was in relation to another plot point.
There isn’t a date mentioned as to when the book is set, and looking on GoodReads doesn’t offer an ideas, I guessed it was around the 1700/1800, which I enjoyed, the history seemed to match up to those years. However every now and again a character would say something which didn’t quite fit the timeline. Each time I would almost get brought out of the story, I might be wrong! Maybe people did speak more modernly than I realised! But it felt a little out of place.
The plot moved fast which I kind of expected with it being a relatively shortish book (226 pages), a lot seemed to happen. I liked how it was paced, it made it pretty easy to follow. I did see a few things coming, such as who was behind the Vampirism, but the ending took me completely by surprise.
I did feel a tiny bit let down at the end as it seemed very out of the blue, I think the Vampirism could have really been left out completely and the book still really enjoyable.
Despite the few ‘bugs’ that didn’t quite sit with me, I did find it a good spooky/not-so-spooky Halloween read.
This story has violence and some gore. Definitely a good spooky Halloween choice. However it is not a typical read of mine as there was no spice/steam. That aspect is say was PG.
But the story and characters were so developed and well done I was ok with the lack of "honeymoon" details.
This story follows Charlotte as she grows up and finds herself and learns to stand up for what she wants. Moving to a new, "spirited" home at age 12, she believes will be the change she's always wanted. Bennett is the perfect friend to Lottie and I loved seeing them grow even if they were distant at times.
This had sad aspects and frustrating moments but ultimately tied together so nicely. And from my understanding this is a debut novel (although I could be wrong on that), however the writing style flowed and story telling was on point, I wouldn't have known this isn't an established author. Definitely a good read.
This book was an amazingly wild ride. It was on the shorter end which allowed me to read it quick but the story did not lack any details. If you like a story about romance and vampires with a tab bit of haunted houses, this is a must read for you.
I got Breck's books at the big Twilight Festival book signing she was at in Forks, Washington. She snagged me first with the covers, but now that I've read them. I'm addicted to her writing. This one has a few great twists that I absolutely loved. You 100% have to buy and read them all!
Lottie was twelve years old when her father inherited his Uncle’s fortune and they moved to Rivers End. When they arrive she meets Bennett who is groundskeepers son and they became friends. There are a lot of strange things that happen. Great characters and storyline Amazing Book I love the character development of Lottie and Bennett. I couldn’t put the book down. This is my first book by this author definitely not my last.
4.5 Stars!!! This is a fast paced easy read that I couldn't put down! Truthfully I went into this book knowing nothing about it but man am I glad I read this!! It's such an entertaining story with amazing plot twists, you won't want to put it down! I fell in love with the characters from the get go and there were many scenes that had me gasping, I was so shocked! If you love a cozy fantasy with southern charm and a touch of mystery and sweet romance this book is for you! I loved how, as the story went on you could tell the author got more comfortable writing the characters and I really enjoyed the banter and relationship between Bennett and Lottie. I finished this book in 12 hours it was that good!
Breck instantly got me by saying it's inspired by Disney's The Haunted Mansion and forbidden romance. Say no more you sold me! But boy was this book way more than I anticipated. I absolutely LOVED it. I couldn't put it down. Definitely a fast pace read that keeps you on the edge of you seat thinking what's next.
Charlotte, aka Lottie, moves into a "haunted" mansion at the age of 12. This mansion has a mind of its own, where it will open and close windows, doors, drawers, etc., fill bathtubs and so much more. It especially takes a liking to young Lottie where it will have her back no matter what and she protects the mansion just the same. Bennett is the "help" but to Lottie it's her best friend. Being the same age, they grow up together till her father starts demanding they stay away from each other. Her father even keeps away the only other friend she has Maris. As time goes on you watch Lottie grow into a strong woman who stands her ground.
This story is beautifully written and even puts a twist on vampires that I wasn't expecting. Thank you Breck for the amazing take on the Haunted Mansion and vampires!
I was very excited to have been provided with an ARC copy of this book. This was a fun and easy Halloween season read with lots of great ideas and plot points. The pacing of the book was wonderful and I was never bored and never felt a lag in plot, which is what I look for in my shorter books. The authors style and the way she created a moody atmosphere was also fantastic.
I loved the feminism theme and the main character, and I LOVED her relationship with her home. If a sequel were made, I would really want to hear more about that, it’s history, what makes it haunted, why it loves her.
The twist and vampy plot line gave it a new edge but I thought it was a bit underdeveloped as a story line and came somewhat of nowhere. This didn’t reduce my enjoyment as a reader, but did make me feel a lack of depth, which I would have welcomed.
Overall I do recommend this book if you want a spooky but easy mood read. I would readily read about the same characters again, but would crave a deeper understanding of the whole world they were living in.
"Till Death" is a very fast paced book that will keep you guessing throughout the entire thing! It has romance, a sprinkle of spice, mystery, and twists that make you dizzy. I enjoyed this book a lot. The one downfall was some parts felt too rushed. There is one large detail that is thrown at you around the 30% mark and then just moves on to the next topic. Again, it felt rushed but overall, I still loved the story. I loved the character development that Lottie went through. I love Bennett. Definitely read this book! I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. I leave this review voluntarily.
I was given the chance to read this gem of a book early on! I have got to say... I 👏 ABSOLUTELY 👏 FKN 👏 LOVED 👏 IT 👏 I Blind read it so I had no idea what I was getting into. So that was a major + The shock factor was on point! This book was such a smoooooth read I could definitely read it again ! I would looooooove to read a part 2!!! Breck Suzanne did an amazing job with her debut book! If this was a smooth read I can only imagine what other stories are locked up in her head just waiting to pour out ! Girl....I'm a fan !!! Thank you for the opportunity!
I read this as an ARC, this book was not what I initially expected. The prologue made me feel creeped out… but it was a great set up for the story!
The twists and turns this book took were wonderful! It kept my brain thinking and trying to figure out who did what!
I enjoyed the main female character and the strength and courage she developed throughout the story.
The stable boy was the one I’d hoped she would end up with throughout the entire book… I kept rooting for him and wanting him to be the man she needed!
I discovered this author via TikTok. She was offering a copy of her book for an honest review. I decided to get the book and I am glad I did. I have not read a vampire novel in quite awhile. All the books I had viewed had the same premise just different version. So I stopped reading these books. This book was very different. The story is told from a totally different perspective and I loved it. No spoilers here! This book was so good, I asked her to consider me for the next book. My faith in vampire books has been restored.
Overall it was a good book. I loved the relationship between Lottie and Bennet. You could feel the chemistry between from the beginning when they were just kids. I love that they get to spend forever with one another.
I went into this book not knowing anything about it. This is not a smut book. There is no sex or any spicy parts. It was still a good read and had lots events I didn’t see coming.

Breck Suzanne sets the story so beautifully in Bayou Cassette where we find a poor, unwanted girl who found belonging in the haunted mansion at River’s End. This is the perfect home for Lottie and it welcomes (as well as protects) her, unlike her parents. You’ll discover the many traumas that Lottie goes through and how the mansion helps her along the way. In the love found at the estate, Lottie obtains the happiness and confidence to be who she has always meant to be.
Amazing read, Haunted Mansion vibes - I couldn’t put it down!
What can I say? I finished this book in 3 hours, I put my kids to bed, there was nothing I wanted to watch so I pulled this up and didn’t put it down until I reached the end! I love the inspiration behind the story (Haunted Mansion ride) I grew to love the characters, the secrets, the sexual tension - everything! Loved it!
I was so so lucky to get an arc of this book. It was amazing. Absolutely incredible. This book was everything. I was hooked from the very first page to the very last page. I could not put this book down. I loved it so much. It has everything a Gothic novel should have. It was beautifully written. It will always be one of my favorite books. I can't wait to see what this author writes in the future. She has definitely gained a fan in me.
If you like vampires, haunted houses, murder and romance then you should read this book!
This book is faced paced and keeps your attention the entire time with plot twists along the way. There were several things that shocked me during the book which I love. I want to read something that keeps me on my toes and this book did just that. It was my very first vampire romance style book and I am very pleased and hope you decide to read it too!
Very interesting story! Inspired by the Haunted Mansion rude at Disneyland. This is a paranormal, gothic romance. I loved the growth between Lottie and Bennett. She struggled thru so much. This is the author's first book, and you can tell. The story is fantastic but the writing is a little off. I've read her second book already and her writing style has improved! I'm excited to see her grow as an author because she definitely knows how to weave loveable characters and fun adventures!
This gothic horror novel was a quick, fun read. The first quarter of the book painted an interesting picture. I felt like it was all a little downhill from there…no real highs or lows. I did resonate with the main character, Lottie, and I especially appreciated a conversation she had with her father toward the end. If you want an easy read, southern gothic romance, then this is it! If you like spice, this ain’t it! ⭐️ 3/5 🌶️ 0/5
I really enjoyed this story. It was the perfect amount of gore and romance. I loved getting to know Bennett and Lottie throughout the story. The tension and chemistry between them is beautifully written. I couldn't put it down.
If you like haunted houses and vampires, you'll like this book. I'm excited to read what else Breck ends up writing.
This book will have wanting to turn the page to see what will happen next. Lottie turns into a badass and you can’t help but love her and all her intentions, good or bad, depending on who you are! It also makes you want a house like River Run. Bennet just has you falling in love anytime he is around. Such a gentleman.
This is a beautiful book about a woman who has had a hard go of it in life. Follow along on her journey as she falls in love and falls in love with her haunted home. The house is "alive" and cares for her as much as she cares for it. Plus if you like a splash of vampires then this is the book for you! No real spice however if that's what you're looking for.
BRAVO!! The villain era book that you should definitely read!!
I enjoy going in blind so that I am 100% surprised and I was not even slightly disappointed. This gothic romance had me entranced and I loved every possible moment! Beautifully written and I easily devoured every last page. From front to back, this book was perfect.
This book is full of twists and turns. The main character finds herself through out the read leaving you cheering her on! A great fantasy romance. If you are after smut or spice, this is not it. Personally, it didn't need spice, the plot kept you wanting more. Haunted houses, vampires, weddings, affairs. You name it this book has it and it all works so well! Highly recommend

Bennett and Lottie have a connection from the beginning that lasted an eternity. I read the Prequel before reading Till Death and I loved knowing who was there helping Lottie out as soon as she entered River's End. This is another great read from Breck, I'm just sad it took me this long to read it. Definitely a great short read!
Arc Review: I loved the book the time period was hard to figure out until really later in the book , hopefully will be fixed into an earlier chapter. I was not expecting the twist with the vampires but a serial killer on the lose. Prefect as a spooky season read
