Hailey North is a USA Today bestselling author who began writing while employed as a “game show lawyer” for NBC Studios. Tired of hearing lawyers weren’t creative, she quit her job and typed “Chapter One” (not the chapter, just the heading!).
Since that day, North has penned eleven romantic comedies, set in her adopted hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, in her favorite imaginary town, Doolittle, Arkansas, and in her very own version of Purgatory.
Her three-book “afterlife” series (The Diva, The Billionaire and The Hero) celebrates creative, but accidentally dead, characters trying their darnedest to win a second chance at life.
North lives in Louisiana with her husband, her food-centric Labrador Shelby, and her three kindred spirit felines, Ali Kat, Rosa Pax, and Max the Cat Who Thinks He's a Dog.

Jonni Landry DeVries, a New Orleans socialite, is just starting to climb out of the depression that she's been dealing with since her husband, David, died a year ago. Meanwhile, playboy Cameron Scott is worrying about his future as an action star, wondering if he has the chops to be a serious actor. In steps a renowned producer with a role of a beloved children's character, Mr. Benjamin, to be shot in New Orleans--and the perfect location happens to be Jonni's home.

Cameron never plans on giving up his life as a bachelor, and Jonni is working on finding herself after a disastrous marriage. Of course, sparks fly when the two meet and what is supposed to be a short-lived, whirlwind romance just might become so much more.

There were so many things I enjoyed about this novel, and many times caught myself grinning ear-to-ear as I read. There's how Cameron acts around Erika, for one, treating her like an actual human instead of being dismissive. There's also the humor Hailey North infuses the whole book with. Then Isolde, the young multicolored-haired nanny with an old soul, and Sunny, the housekeeper who just wants to see Jonni happy. Daffy, Jonni's twin sister, is a delight. Finally, there's the relationship between Jonni and Cameron. Sure, it starts off a little rocky, but it was fun to see rapport build between them, slowly moving from like/lust to love. The fact that Cameron appreciates that Jonni has curves is another plus!

This was a fun read, and if all North's romances are like this, I think I'll need to find more.

Jonni Landry DeVries husband dies a year ago leaving her a single mom of the upper crust New Orleans crowd. Totally dominated by her politically correct husband, she has drowned her sorrows in food. When her twin Daffy commits her to letting her house be used by a film crew for a children's movie, she agrees reluctantly and begins to reclaim her life. Cameron Scott is good looking and has always played very successful action/hero roles in movies. When his agent commits him to a children's movie, he's scared spitless it'll flop as he knows he's never been a "real" actor. Jonni and Cameron (in disguise as the elderly Mr. Benjamin of the movie) immediately hit it off. Even when she finds out who he really is, the sparks fly, but she's not willing to submit to marriage again although the sex is great. Eventually, both find their true selves and accept their future together.

Lighthearted with good secondary characters. Several fairly graphic sex scenes.

Not sure why

I am not sure why I continued to read this story. Jonni was bored and boring and Cameron was just as uninteresting. Usually the kid(s) or supporting characters are the redeeming factors in a book but they were not all that interesting either. I will Not be continuing this series.

3.5. Fun chick lit. Points for a stronger female character that doesn't let a man push her around and reins in the spunky little 5 year old.

This was an okay read. Nothing special. It's been almost a decade since I've read Dear Love Doctor, but I still remember it and it's impact. Opposites Attract doesn't even compare to that book. Personally, the strongest point for me was the characters. I adored them all.

The story itself was decent too. It just had a tendency to drag. Especially in the middle. It started out at a great pace, then slowed way down, then at the end it went into mach speed and it was over before I realized what was going on. No proclamations of love or anything. Next thing I know, it's the epilogue and Cameron and Jonni are married. The end.

What? Talk about rushed! But other than that, Opposites Attract wasn't horrible. Just average. Nothing special. It had some very sexy moments and some very funny moments… I have no regrets with reading it. I bought it at the UBS in town, and so I'm satisfied also with the price I paid for it. It made for an okay, fluffy "escape read". I recommend it if that's what you're looking for, and you find it cheap enough.

Setelah teronggok berbulan-bulan lamanya, akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk membaca buku ini. Tertarik sama judul dan warnanya. Pink!
Sebagian orang mungkin nggak tertarik dengan cerita di mana salah satu tokoh sudah punya anak, but it didn't really bother me.

Suka sama tokoh Flynn, sahabat sekaligus manajernya Cameron.

Suka ama buku ini. Jual nggak yaaaa? :D

I loved this book! I liked that he was secretly insecure, but glad that they could overcome the various hurdles.
