Stimulate early visual acuity—focusing, tracking, and scanning, plus object recognition—with these high-contrast graphic pictures. Basic large-scale animal images are set against solid backgrounds in different bold color combinations. They’ll capture baby’s attention, and parents can enhance the experience by naming colors and making animal noises.
This was a gift for William from the hospital. I started showing it to him as soon as he started to have alert time. In particular, we often stand it up for him to look at during tummy time. He likes the checkers and the sheep and goat page the best at present (two weeks), though the kitty and bunny page is my personal favorite. I really like how this book is high contrast with common animals. The Tana Hoban books are great because of the contrast, but the items in the pictures aren't very funny.
While this book is designed more for visual stimulation of very young babies, it was a nice enough early book. I liked the animals and my daughter responded quite well to it. There's not a lot to say about it, because it's not especially innovative or unique--but I still give it four stars, because it's a solid selection for the purpose for which it was intended.
Any board books like this one with contrasting colors and simple pictures of everyday things is popular with babies. The pictures int his one are a little odd for me (the back feet on the bird look like tail appendages), but I'm sure babies will love it.
This book is for newborns to six months. The book is a board book but the outline of the pages are covered in a blue foam. This book helps children's brain development at such a young age. The book says it encourages, early visual activity, visual stimulation, focusing, tracking, scanning, object recognition, bonding, and motor skills.
