My Thoughts:

This was my first introduction to Harlequin romances & it didn't work out so well. The writing was way better than I expected it to be from a line of books that I consider literary Lifetime. My problem was that I found the h/h very unlikeable. The hero, Jared, is such a douche. He's always plotting about how to get back at our heroine, Lea, just because she broke off their betrothal. I don't mind a little bitterness from characters but he went out of his way to be an asshole towa
UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish

Lady Lea of Montreau is newly widowed, and while she’s been able to avoid taking sides in the battle for the throne between Empress Matilda and King Stephen, things are starting to heat up and she knows it’s only a matter of time before someone tries to take over her lands.

After Lea left him standing at the altar four years ago, Lord Jared of Warehaven is looking forward to taking control of Montreau, and in the process, seeking revenge for his broken heart. However, what neither Jared nor Lea w

Lea of Montreau has a few option since her husband's death. She can marry again which she really doesn't want after her first horrible marriage. No one in the Keep really mourns the passing of their Lord. She can prove to the King that she is carrying the heir and new Lord, which is hard to do when maritial relations has been nil. Her final optioon would to be to give up the Keep and plummet her people into a sensel

It was "okay".
It was a fine read, but it seemed to drag. I found myself skipping. I'll admit it is a re-read, but I think I skipped then, too.

Worst book I have ever read. I won't even deem to rate this one.

A whiny female character. An asshole male lead who enjoys causing emotional pain.

And then this bomb happened>>>
"Oh I am sorry," said Lea.
"Why are you sorry?"asked Jared.
"I wanted to give you a son."

I could not put this one down. I've only read a few Medieval HRs and I can honestly count on one hand which of them I genuinely loved. This one is another that pleasantly surprised me, plus the ending was just perfect. The chemistry between Lea and Jared was intense from the first page. Ms. Lynn's writing was perfectly done, so I found myself crying along with Lea and understanding her fears, although they seemed unrealistic to Jared. I will definitely read this one again.

I only got about 25% of the way through this before the characters began so irritating me that I just couldn't go on. While I could kind of like the heroine, the hero is a complete jerk and was quickly approaching irredeemable for me. Then the secondary woman showed up and I just didn't have the patience to continue on.
