I enjoyed this book very much, but unfortunately it became somewhat repetitive, and hard to follow. I felt as if the God Girl that Hayley was painting was barely impossible to be, and the expectations were too great. I love books that convey the message of totally relying on God to change us and direct us into His right path, and not us relying on our strength. I found that this book partially quenched my thirst of becoming a girl after God's own heart... All in all this was a great book, contai ...more

God Girl is an excellent book!!! I enjoyed reading it a lot. The writing style and topics captured my attention and I was always looking forward to sitting down and reading it. I have many good quotes from it and was challenged on a few areas of my life! I can't say I agreed with 100% of it, but it was a great book that talked about relationships with others, yourself, and God. A wonderful book!

I am a youth leader in my churches youth ministry and as a group we went trough Gid Guy and God Girl together and I have to say this study was amazing!!! This was chosen primarily for the teens and by the end of the study I think all of the female youth leaders went out and bought this book. The Demarco family has been given this wonderful perspective on what it takes to be this powerhouse for God. The most amazing thing about this book is that at face value the concepts seem so basic, however I ...more

This wasn't a bad book, but I just felt that it wasn't helpful. It tells you a lot of generic or vague statements (e.g. God loves you no matter what) and it gave me very little consolation because I already knew these things, but it's just difficult to accept. I know God must love me, but I can't help but feel guilty that I sin and never learn. It's exhausting to always have to reassure yourself that God will forgive if you are sorry. I am sorry everyday. It really hurts my mental and emotional ...more

When you lose count of all the quotes from a book that you want to write down just from one chapter, you know you have a good book! "God Girl" is just such a book. It is packed with information and guidance for becoming a God Girl, and very real and relatable (not full of "fluff" like some of these kinds of books tend to be). Plus, the design and layout of the book is gorgeous! There were a slight few things that I maybe didn't quite agree with all the way, but it was definitely a challenging bo ...more

Recommends it for: Christian teenagers
I love reading books on Christian living, and when I found this one it looked okay, so I decided to give it a try. It turns out I loved it! I was convicted of some areas in my life that I need to change, and I was encouraged greatly to keep walking with God. I would recommend this book to any Christian girl, but especially those that deal with depression. Unlike other books I've read, this book gave some really helpful truths to what causes depression, and the remedy for it.

I will definitely be

I am sorry to everyone who loves books like these, but I hated it. My very first reaction was GAG. I am Christian and do believe in God, I am VERY Christian in fact. I just don't agree with all the things Hayley DiMarco has to say and how we should do things. I actually didn't WANT to read this book, but had to because of church. Thank you confirmation. Also, the book was a little...girly for me.

This book was purchased when I was about sixteen; I am now twenty-three. It took me seven years to pry open the pages of this book, for many reasons, but I am so glad I did. After reading the very first few chapters, I felt God calling me to a living a holier life. After reading the chapter about the God Girl and men, in particular, I began to notice patterns I saw in my own life, which needed to change for God's glory, and with His help. Overall, a great book. I am giving four stars instead of ...more

I felt like the author of this book was extremely judge mental, and spoke as if she was God. I wanted to stick with it because there were a few tidbits that I liked, until I got to page 332. One of her phrases said everything bad in your life is a result of sin. This was extremely disappointing to read, because God does not punish us, God loves us unconditionally. Everything bad happens for a reason, yes this is true, but everything bad does not happen as a result of a sin. I have thrown this bo ...more

Not a bad book. My only issues were that it was sometimes hard to follow and that some of the standards Hayley sets out for the God Girl are VERY difficult to handle. Though I'm a bit older than the girl this book is written for, it did teach me a bit. Would recommend using for older teenage girls (15-18).

This was a nice book about figuring out how to live your life from a christian perspective. I picked it up because I'm fan of Hayley DiMarco. I'm mainly used to DiMarco delivering hard truths through witty and clever angles, so it was interesting to read this book written from a another perspective. It definitely wasn't as humorous as other DiMarco books, but it was still relevant. I would recommend to people looking for something to give them a purpose. I liked it.

This book changed my life for the better. It gives you a perspective of the traits that make up a girl who has a Christ centered life. Hayley DiMarco is great at writing this book in a way that you can connect to the tone and mood that it's written in. Overall it is the most encouraging book I've ever read because of the abundance of positivity throughout the book. You know the type of book that you never want to stop reading ? This one came through the ILL office and I happened to glance through it and was intrigued. When I got the book, I realized it was actually for a slightly younger audience than myself, but Hayley said she wrote it for teens and former teens and since I am in the later category I kept reading.

I liked the insights Hayley provided, and I definately think she's teaching the right stuff. It just kinda gives a different perspective on common topics that all God Girl's need to deal with regardless of a

3.5 stars. If there hadn't been so many typos I probably would have rated it 4 stars. I read this to see if it would be a good book to read with my daughter to help her grow as a Christian. It has some excellent suggestions but enough typos (hopefully they'll eventually fix them in the Kindle version w/o wiping out all my notes) that I think we'll most likely just go over everything I highlighted and made notes on rather than make her read the whole book.

Very Inspiring. A very quick Read. Sometimes people forget when it comes to God and Jesus if you are religious or very religious. They will never leave your side no matter how badly you mess up in life or if you stray away from them, they will always be with you, helping you along the way. This book helped me realize that because I battled with that very thought for a long time. It's a very simple read but the message is powerfully clear. I would recommend this.

I would recommend this book because the author touches on stories from her past that a lot of youth girls and even grown women struggle with today... Such as self-image issues, loneliness, divorce, and so forth. The author shares her experiences of becoming a Christian and finding True happiness in Christ alone. I thought the author did a great job articulating how much God loves us-- His royal daughters. A great read for youth, teenagers, and women of any age.

I really loved this book. I read it a few years ago, but didn't really grasp it. I read it again recently and finished it changed. Hayley does kind of set the bar high, but you have to remember, you're not perfect. Nobody expects you to be. Hayley doesn't, she's just showing you the girl the Bible talks about. Just think, Proverbs 31 is a difficult thing to accomplish. Just do the best you can with it, it'll change you're life.

This book was absolutely amazing! It really did change my life and how I act. This books tells you how to be a girl of god and how she should act. Theres not really much I can say but its helps girl my age to get on the believing path of god, how to deal with your friends and family and much more. I suggest for girls my age to read it because it will make you a better person, no doubt about it.

Obviously geared toward a younger audience but as long as you can mentally replace "boys" with "men" and not get distracted by the emphasis on interactions with parents, this book still has valuable information for women of all ages.

“Letting go is your hope and your power. So refuse to hold on to anything—any memory, any worry, or any fear—that is associated with sin. That means if you are holding a grudge, you’ve got to let go of it. Holding on to it is a sin. It’s not taking a position of power; it’s sin, and so it’s weakness. So right now, this minute, get over it! If you think getting even with someone is your job, then you’ve lost your way. Who do you think you are—God? “ ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord” (Heb 10:30 NKJV). Don’t get even. Don’t sit around plotting and planning. Get over it. If there is something you can’t get over, then you’ve got a big weakness that is going to tear you down eventually.” 3 likes
