In rhyming text, describes common ailments that children may experience, including bruises, rashes, cuts, and splinters, in a book with textured pictures and pictures hidden underneath flaps.
This interactive book about every kind of 'boo boo' is a great way for kids to learn about injuries and how to handle them. Written in a very upbeat kind of way so as not be scary, the sing-songy text still manages to convey important concepts. "Stitches itches as they heal. Tickling, tightening, a wee bit frightening! Stitches itches, but not for long. In a few short days, they will be gone." My favorite part is the ending where the author reminds kids that injuries are only temporary and their 'super-power bodies' will heal from the inside out. Great book to take the fear out of everyday injuries.
My two year old has been obsessed with this book for months now, so much so that I occasionally hide it to give it a break! It's actually a pretty good book though. She wasn't even two when she began living it after picking it up at a yardsale. Such a great way to explain boo boos to a kid and to help them remember why things happen the way they do. I bought this for several Of her friends for their second birthdays too because it was such a hit in our house. Warning: you will have the parts in it memorized. I told her one day I burned myself...and proceeded into the narrative from the book: "Feeling hot hot hot, touched a pot pot pot, burning spot spot spot, hurts a lot lot lot."
