Kid-friendly and conducive to experimenting, Backyard Science Experiments teaches midgraders the basics in botany and biology. Features comprehensive explanations of basic scientific principles underlying each experiment. Includes over 40 science experiments designed for the backyard. Contains full-color photos throughout.
Filled with fairly simple experiments using *mostly* accessible materials. The experiments seem interesting and educational, and there is a "results" section to each that explains the natural law that comes into play in the experiment. One of the main flaws I see is the lack of illustrations to engage kids (younger and older). There are small illustrations on each page, but they don't give a real feel for the experiment or its results. The book is generally for older kids (8+).
