Escape

Davin is a Delta-23 replicate, which means he looks like every other Delta-23 on the planet. He's bored seeing the same face every day -- each replicate is his twin, though he alone seems to ache for something different. When a prison ship crash-lands in the woods and the replicates are asked to retrieve the prisoners, Davin jumps at the chance to encounter a natural-born.

Trace is a hard man who has lived a hard life, and the moment the ship carrying him crashes, he takes the opportunity to escape. The last thing he expects is the replicate eager to get up close and personal with an escaped prisoner.

This story was originally published by Ruthie's Club in 2007 and appears in my collections SHORTS and OTHER WORLDS THAN THESE.

Escape is the story of what happens when two fantasies accidentally intersect.

Trace is on a prison ship, and longs to be free. Davin is a replicate, a Delta 23 to be specific, has never seen anyone who was not a replicate just like him, and he longs to see someone different. When the ship carrying Trace to the front lines of the war crashes, he escapes. Davin is hunting survivors, and is mesmerized by the sight of Trace. These two totally different lives converge for one explicitly erotic moment.

Escape is a quick hot fantasy; you won't regret reading it.

It's nice read but not memorable. Maybe because it's pretty short *shrugs* But then again, sometimes even with the short stories, J.M. Snyder can hit my emotion deeply. I guess this is just not one of them.

Trace is a survivor from a prison ship crash, who is found by Davin a Delta-23 human replicate. Together, they’ll give the other the much desired escape they are searching for in this science fiction short story.
