Todd has harbored a secret love for his best friend Riley for years. But Riley has signed up to join the military, and soon he'll leave the small town he calls home -- and his best friend -- behind. The fact that Riley decides to spend his last evening home with Todd instead of with his girlfriend Charlene tells Todd something ... and a few beers later, he decides to confess his feelings for his friend.

Riley and Todd have been best friends since elementary school,and Todd's been in love with Riley just about that long. Riley, however, has always been a ladies' man, so Todd has simply lusted from afar, content not to spoil their friendship. On the last night before Riley heads off to the army, the two men go off to have a few last beers together, and ... things are changed forever.

I love J.M. Snyder's deft descriptions as Todd and Riley come to terms with their deepening friendship and their suddenly urgent physical needs. The hot, sexy and very immediate scene in the front seat of a truck will take your breath away. Told with humor and insight, this sweet and erotic tale can't fail to warm your heart.

For a short story, this one packs emotion of two best friends. Todd is deeply in love with Riley and haven't able to tell his best friend that fact, until the last night before Riley go to his military training. It is such a beautiful snippet and I love the characters here so much, I truly wish it is expanded to a novella where Riley is finished with his military training. That is a sign of a good short story.
