Dude. I really have no idea how to rate this. It reminds me of a contest on Writing.com that asks members to write a one-star piece. And the ones who write badly very well are the winners. That's how this books reads to me.

I mean, it's awesome in its awfulness. So I feel like I should give it one star---like that's what it wants me to do. But I'm not sure, for sure, it's supposed to be awful, so it gets two.

In any case, it entertained the hell out of me, even if for all the wrong reasons.

The plots in this series are ridiculous, really--but they're unapologetically ridiculous. I don't think I've ever read a romance series that has taken itself less seriously; these books are just plain fun, hilarious, and steamy.

Recommended for: reading in between Holocaust novels, heavy angst, epic strolls through Mordor, or books in which you otherwise find yourself emotionally junkpunched.

This third installment in Sandra Hill's Viking Series II is a fun-filled romp through time. I wasn't sure I would like Magnus because the impression I had gotten of him from the previous two books was that of an arrogant womanizer whose numerous conquests had left him with eleven children, not to mention he didn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer. Well, Sandra Hill managed to skillfully turn him into an endearing hero whose earthiness gave him a charming simplicity. He was also a loving, patient, and committed father which is always a plus for me. Angela was a strong, determined woman who ended up loving Magnus's kids as much as he did, which is something that no other woman in his life had done for him. I thought her character was a bit underdeveloped though, so she just didn't stand out to me like Magnus and the kids did. I found her to be a likable and pleasant heroine nonetheless. I was also a little disappointed with the development of Magnus and Angela's relationship. Things moved a little too quickly for my taste, and I didn't initially feel an emotional connection between the two characters. However, the ending was very romantic and satisfying in my opinion. I thought the kids were a total hoot, and each one had a unique personality. In fact there was plenty of Sandra Hill's trademark humor that left me in stitches quite frequently. There was a scene where Magnus and his children discover the joys of "Wal-Market" that was absolutely priceless. While the story wouldn't stand up to close scrutiny from logical readers, I found it to be a fun and enjoyable fantasy. If you like your romance with a healthy dose of laughter, then this book and it's companions may just fit the bill.

This book's ridiculousness is what made it great. It's totally unbelievable all around but also manages to be endearing.

One thing Hill really has going for her is that she knows how to write kids. So often in books children are written as idealized that they end up flat and indistinguishable. (I mean, kids in romance novels are almost always the product of a single-parent home, but those kids are all so well-adjusted it's a wonder their parents want to get married). But even with eleven children, I learned to love each one of the kids in this book.

By Thor, I might just be forced to find the rest of the books in this series and read them. Who cares if I will have to suspend my disbelief and put stock in a time-traveling Viking who can magically speak English and is more progressive thinking than most modern men. I read to escape, and this book kept me laughing.

Un broche excelente para ésta trilogía tan singular. El libro es tanto o más disparatado que los dos anteriores, y la autora se lo ha currado bastante para que podamos simpatizar con el protagonista, un hombre muy viril que ha tenido nada más ni menos que 13 hijos de madres distintas, cosa nada fácil de aceptar. En el fondo ambos protagonistas se han complementado perfectamente, y Ángela ha sido justo lo que Magnus necesitaba. El libro ha sido también el más ameno y rápido de leer de la serie, quizás porque los niños de Magnus han dado mucho juego.
En general, estos tres libros, si bien no son imprescindibles, han supuesto un entretenimiento seguro y me alegro de haberlos leído.

This time-travel romance is remarkable. Magnus, a Viking, embarks on a voyage with his nine children in the year 1000 and inexplicably ends up in Hollywood in 2003. He meets a woman named Angela and becomes convinced she is his destiny.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not only is it humorous, but it also has emotional depth. I love all the characters, especially the children.

If you enjoy romance, this book will captivate you. If you appreciate humour, it will charm you. However, if you seek tragic, heavy drama, this may not be the right choice.

I finally got a chance to finish this one and I have to admit I loved it. By the author's own admission, Magnus was never actaully supposed to have a book. He was meant to be just an amusing secondary character in his brothers stories. I for one am glad she gave him one anyway. Magnus is an honest and lovable character and even when he's being dense you can't help but smile. Angela was a great female lead and Magnus's children were a riot. This one wasn't as much of a heartwrencher as his brother's stories but that totally worked for me today when I needed the smiles. Honestly I'm sad to see the end of these three brothers but proud to say that Geirolf, Jorund and Magnus (and his brood of children) have won my heart and a place on my keepers shelf!

This is not my usual genre, but the title made me chuckle, so I gave it a shot. It’s…not great. But I think it was supposed to purposefully be not great? As another reviewer (Chy) stated “It’s awesome in its awfulness. So l feel like I should give it one star---like that's what it wants me to do. But I'm not sure, for sure, it's supposed to be awful, so it gets two.” Would I recommend it? No. Did it make me laugh with all of its ridiculousness? Yes. Did I waste a few hours of my life reading this? Absolutely.

Setelah trauma berat baca buku ke-2nya aku bisa dibilang ogah-ogahan baca seri Viking II dari SH.
okelah, bisa dibilang aku over menghakimi buku ini sebelum baca. Tapi setelah aku membaca narasi-narasi awal, SH mengubah pikiranku. Magnus mungkin tampak dangkal, besar mulut dan super ngeselin di buku 2, tapi dia lucu dan ternyata super ngenes karena kelebihannya yaitu kelewat subur hihihi.. ya ampun, inget aja uda ngikik lagi.

Bisa dibilang Magnus jadi bahan bully temen-temennya. Tapi di luar kesan stressnya terhadap anak-anak, dia sosok ayah yang bertanggungjawab. Dia tidak pernah menolak bayi-bayi yang diletakan di depan rumahnya dan diklaim sebagai anaknya. Hapal nama semua anaknya yang ajubilah banyaknya itu. Dan so far aku terkesan dengan kesabarannya menjawab pertanyaan dan memberikan semua sesuai kebutuhan masing-masing anak.

Geger tehnologi tetap jadi modal utama untuk ngelawak, tapi selain ini "godaan untuk sumpah selibat" magnus juga super kocak dan bikin ngikik sampai lemes. Aku tidak akan memberikan banyak spoiler untuk buku ini, karena tiap gadis berhak mendapat Magnus versinya sendiri sebagai pasangan.

Picked for a read aloud with my wife. We cast the characters if we would make it into a movie. That was the only thing that got us through to the end. Unfortunately, all of the explanation and scene description gets in the way of conversations between characters. The author treats her audience poorly by explaining everything repeatedly. I would have greatly enjoyed the book if the characters weren't caricatures. She seemed to have plenty of pages to repeat herself. Use those pages in the next book to develop some of the main players. For the record my wife and I both look forward to Alec Baldwin's Oscar Nomination for Best Supporting Actor as Gunther Morgan.

Never thought I'd give a Sandra Hill book a bad rating because I LOVE her books but I could not get past the 3 or 4th page in this one because the hero Magnus was such a jackass! Complaining about his kids and even going so far as to deny the newest baby girl and not wanting anything to do with her. Most definitely NOT hero behaviour. Whether there were things that happened later that explained this asshat behaviour or not I don't know because I couldn't get past what a jerk he was in the first few pages. A serious disappointment to this Sandra Hill fan.

At first I will admit I didn't like this book. I loved it in Norway but once Magnus and his brood get to LA it dragged. I loved it again in the wine country. Is it well written yes with a small caution Magnus is very different and you have to overlook these aspects of his personality to enjoy the book. His children were wonderfully written. I loved the grandmother who wanted her granddaughter to be happy. It just worked for me

Magnus Ericsson adalah pria yg subur. di usianya yg ke-37 thn dia sudah memiliki 13 anak dgn 11 anak yg hidup sehat. Karena jadi bulan-bulanan di masa Viking, dia membawa ke-9 anaknya utk berkelana ke Vinland ke tanah baru dan menjadi petani.

Dgn anak-anaknya yg pengacau dan pengeluh semua, Magnus gak sadar dirinya malah terdampar di Amerika. Dan lebih kacau lagi semenjak bertemu dgn Angela Abruzzi, Magnus merasa menemui takdirnya.

Angela ini sedang pusing utk menyelamatkan perkebunan anggur neneknya, yg butuh suntikan dana yg sangat besar. Krn itu dia menawarkan perkebunan itu sbg properti setting film berikutnya. Eh, sialnya dia mendapat tugas barter membawa dan menjaga Magnus dan pasukan anak-anaknya. Dan bagi Angela ini spt pengalaman baru yg mencengangkan dirinya krn spt membawa sepasukan Flinstone ke apartemennya. Dan akhirnya Angela memutuskan memboyong keluarga besar ini ke perkebunan anggur neneknya, Blue Dragon.

Dari awal masalah Magnus adalah dia tidak mau menambah anak lagi. Walaupun Magnus adalah single dad yg bertanggungjawab dan protektif terhadap anak-anaknya, dia memutuskan utk selibat. Bodohnya dia gak tau di masa depan sudah banyak alat kontrasepsi pencegah kehamilan. Jadi kocak banget saat Magnus merasa dipecundangi oleh Angela utk melakukan dry humping. Toh hal ini tidak menghalangi Magnus utk berintim ria dgn Angela dimanapun dan kapanpun kalau tidak dikuntit anak-anaknya.

Angela tidak bisa menerima eh tepatnya tidak bisa menolak Magnus tapi dgn berat hati hrs menjauhi pria ini. Angela menginginkan bayinya sendiri, sedangkan Magnus menolak dan malah mau melakukan vasektomi. Jadi, peluang mereka utk bersatu sangat kecil. Magnus ini pria kocak banget, lugu, kelewat polos tapi saking jujurnya minta ditendang sampai ke Valhalla.

Novel author tidak pernah mengecewakan saya dgn humor-humor sarkastisnya dan anakronismenya yg bikin super ngekek. Seperti dia mendeskripsikan Britney Spears super koplak di mata seorang Viking yg berasal dari ribuan tahun silam, kena serangan erotis. Atau perdebatan seksis vs feminis, antara Magnus dan Carmen ttg pria, ini super gokil dan bikin gw ngakak terus. Ya lord, Viking chauvinis gak bakalan bisa terima dgn lelucon diskriminatif apapun yg menggambarkan seorang pria itu bodoh luar biasa.

Chemistry Magnus dan Angela sudah pasti bikin saya tertawa bahagia. Keduanya adalah tipe pasangan yg seperti sudah resmi alias suami istri dgn pertengkaran-pertengkaran sepele tapi penting. Mereka adalah sosok ayah dan ibu ideal di mata saya, tidak membeda-bedakan asal muasal mereka. Kalau ingin membaca satu set full komplit keluarga bahagia, bacalah novel ini, dijamin setuju dgn pendapat saya.

2020 bk 47. This title/edition was my introduction to the world of Sandra HIll's Time traveling Vikings. While I'm showing this as an initial read - I first read it when it was first published in 2003. Gee - that is 17 years ago. I had to go back and read books one and two after I first read this title. None of the others have quite matched up to the humor found in this title. In fact - the 'sweet hunky covers' of the others did not attract my attention as much as this cover did. The numerous children, their beleagured father, and Angela, the real estate agent, and a vineyard in need of their help. The base plot leads to many, many funny situations. This book truly swept me away from the life problems that were mine 5-10 years ago. It is the book I return to when I'm experience back pain. I don't have to think, just read and laugh.

Que el libro iba a ser una bobada era algo con lo que contaba. No solo eso, sino que lo elegí por las risas. No esperaba en absoluto una obra buena, ni siquiera pasable, solo quería reírme. Y vaya si lo conseguí durante parte del libro. Pero llega un momento, todavía me pregunto cómo lo ha conseguido Sandra Hill, en el que todo se vuelve verdaderamente insultante. Insultante para las mujeres, las feministas, los emigrantes, los discapacitados, los médicos y los vikingos. Y seguro que me dejo algún colectivo.
Dos estrellas por la primera parte y por pena, pero dudo mucho que repita.

Dulu sebenarnya sudah pernah baca, terus nemu edisi sekennya di OS FB, asyik2 ^^Lalu re-read deh... Dan masih saja katawa ngakaks sama seperti pertama kali baca ini *hmpfh*

Menceritakan tentang Magnus Ericsson, seorang Viking yang hidup pada abad ke 11.

Magnus ini sepertinya terlalu vital "anu"nya, sampai - sampai punya anak 11! Mulai dari si cerewet Madrene, putri tertuanya, lalu dua putra tertua yang beda lahir seminggu, Ragnor dan Torolf (dan mengakibatkan Magnus diceraikan oleh istrinya), disusul 8 anaknya, Kirsten, Dagny, Kolbein, Jogeir, Storvald, Hamr, Njal dan Lida yang paling kecil. (sang penulis sendiri baru hapal setelah baca berkali2 :p)

Magnus lalu berjanji pada diri sendiri, untuk selibat (dan ditertawakan sahabat2nya bahkan anaknya sendiri juga meragukannya), lalu mengajak ke sembilan anaknya untuk pergi mencari lahan baru, sementara tempatnya yang lama, diambil alih oleh putra tertuanya Ragnor..

Tak disangka, Magnus terdampar ke masa depan, tepatnya tahun 2003, di Hollywood. Magnus jelas tidak tahu dia "time travel" dan mengalami gegar budaya di masa sekarang. Saat itulah, Magnus bertemu Angela Abruzzi, seorang pemilik kebun anggur, yang dianggap Magnus sebagai "his destiny"

Angela lalu mengajak Magnus ke Blue Dragon, tempat perkebunan anggur miliknya. Disini lah banyak momen2 konyol terjadi diantara mereka, ditambah Magnus yang pusing menghadapi kelakuan sembilan anaknya yang minta ini, minta itu. Magnus juga bingung dengan janji selibatnya, karena dia, layaknya laki2 normal, tentu saja ingin "making love" dengan Angela.

Ketika akhirnya Magnus membatalkan janji selibatnya, dan jadi dekat dengan Angela, masalah lain mulai muncul. Angela dan Magnus saling mencintai, dan tentunya ingin menikah. Tapi Magnus tidak ingin punya anak lagi, karena anaknya sendiri sudah sangat banyak. Hal ini jelas - jelas bikin Angela patah hati. Di luar itu juga ada bahaya yang mengincar Blue Dragon, karena saingan Angela, ingin menghancurkan Blue Dragon, supaya Angela tidak bisa menghasilkan Wine lagi dan jatuh bangkrut.

Apakah Magnus akhirnya mau menikahi Angela dan punya anak lagi? Bisakah mereka menangkap pelaku sabotase Blue Dragon? Dan yang terpenting, setelah Magnus tahu dia mengalami time travel, apakah dia mau menetap di tanah yang asing ini dan menjalani hidup baru, tidak hanya untuknya, tapi juga untuk anak2nya?

Baca Viking series 2 Sandra Hill cuma satu jaminan..

Dijamin ketawa ngakak, sakit perut, mata berair, dan gigi kering , karena kebanyakan ketawa =))

Dari segi cerita sebenarnya biasa saja, tapi humor yang ada dan kemampuan meramu kata dari Sandra Hill lah yang membuat buku ini enak dibaca. Ditunjang dengan kepribadian Magnus, sebagai ayah yang sangat baik, walaupun dia menggerutu karena anaknya sangat banyak, toh, dia tetap perhatian pada anak2nya, bahkan hapal semua nama anak - anaknya dan kebutuhan mereka. Jarang banget kan hero yang seperti ini, tapi sekali lagi Sandra Hill sanggup membuat Magnus yang anti hero material (anaknya banyak, telinganya besar, seorang petani, humornya garing kriuk2) jadi adorable, dan membuat kita berharap, pasangan kita juga seperti dia, sayang anak dan keluarga..


Butuh bacaan ringan, penuh humor, banyak ketawa untuk melepas stress dan kesedihan?

Ok, I admit it, I just love vikings--and cajuns. And Sandra writes about both. However, I haven't been able to get into her second Viking series (she has 2, one of which is humourous) but that might be because I started the second series with "The Reluctant Viking" and frankly, that is one serious downer of a book. I didn't like the hero, heroine or any of the other characters, and its one of the few books that I was unable to finish. I think I made it to page 50. But I wasn't willing to give up on Sandra, because I'd started reading her with her Cajun books. So I tried the series that Very Virile Viking is part of. And L*O*V*E*D it

This, is, in my opinion possibly the best of the series. But that's because a man who loves ALL children and is willing to care for them no matter what, is tremendously appealing. The actions of the kids are great, the movie producer is properly sleezy, the villian is not too villianous, and, all in all, its a very good, quick, fluffy read.

This one is my favorite out of the three, and just what I needed, a fun and campy book to give me a break from what I had been reading. I think the appeal of these books comes from the confusion of the Vikings coming to the New World, it is an old joke, but it makes me giggle.

Magnus is no exception to the confusion only this time he has managed to have 9 kids along with him. His brood brings along their own fun as they learn about things. I also loved how Magnus knew that all the kids weren't his, but once he accepted them they were his. He really got to know each one and knew how to deal with them. I also loved Angela and Grandma Rose and the winery. Such a perfect fit for Magnus.

I really enjoyed this book. I absolutely loved the characters and their personalities. There's humor, emotions, strength and courage, a drop of suspense, and the perfect HEA. This was written well and had me turning pages very fervently. This is definitely something I would read again and would like to read the rest of the family's adventures. Gonna keep an eye out. It was good to read something that's a little different too. Vikings in the future...but in a good way. Definitely peaks the interest. Totally Enjoy!

This book was borrowed to me by a *very* blushing friend who typically doesn't read romance novels (cause she saw the title and was just too intrigued). I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself when I first read it. It doesn't take itself too seriously and has some really raunchy sex scenes and just a wee bit of time travel. Basically lots of fun, and made me want to read more of her books.

LOL moments all the way through the book. This is the 2nd book about these Viking Brothers. He has 9 children and he doesn't want any more! He and his children get thrown into this present day and it just gets better and better. Wonderful book!

I can't believe I'm reading this...

Drawn in by the ridiculous title, I actually found it a more enjoyable read than expected. I liked the prevalent sense of humor and comedy. Could have done without some of the raunchy bits though, just made me roll my eyes at times.

Buku ketiga dari seri Viking II, dengan tokoh Magnus, kakak dari Geirolf dan Jorund, di dua buku sebelumnya, dan buku ini bikin ngakak melebihi buku keduanya.

Magnus, pria Viking yang sangat subur, punya 11 anak yang masih hidup dan 2 yang sudah meninggal, jadi total 13 anak. Banyaknya anaknya bikin olok-olokan di jamannya, bayangkan saja kalau di jaman sekarang. Dan itulah yang terjadi saat mereka melakukan perjalanan waktu yang tidak mereka rencanakan sama sekali.

Berawal dengan niat Magnus untuk mencari tanah sendiri bersama 9 anak-anaknya, merekapun berencana berlayar dengan maksud menuju ke Vinland, yang terjadi mereka malah terlempar ke Hollywood, dan membuat seorang sutradara tertarik untuk mengajak Magnus menjadi aktor di filmnya. Disini juga Magnus bertemu dengan Angela, yang menampungnya bersama anak-anaknya di perkebunan anggur Angela, Blue Dragon.

Kalau di buku-buku sebelumnya hanya 1 orang yang mengalami gegar budaya, bayangkan ini ada 10 orang dari abad 10 sampai ke abad 21, dan berpikir mereka sampai ke Valhalla. It's very hillarious membaca mereka melakukan adaptasi di jaman yang tidak mereka ketahui sama sekali. (Mereka baru sadar lama sekali kalau mereka ada di abad 21).

Belum lagi Magnus yang bersumpah untuk selibat, karena sudah nemiliki banyak anak, yang tertarik dengan Angela, tapi berusaha tetap terikat dengan sumpajnya sampai harus tersiksa dengan cukup dry-humping berdua. Tapi begitu tahu ada namanya alat kontrasepsi langsung deh dia mencari cara untuk keluar dari sumpahnya.

Belum lagi anak-anak Magnus yang sangat terkagum-kagum dengan budaya modern, tuntutan mereka jadi banyak sekali sehingga membuat ayah mereka pusing, tapi untung Magnus dibantu Angela, Rose (nenek Angela) dan para pembantu di perkebunan anggur tersebut. Ms. Hill memang punya selera humor yang bagus saat menulis buku ini.

3rd book about Magnus Ericsson, the 3rd brother to be brought forward 1000 years. He comes with 9 of his 11 living children and lands in Hollywood. His catalyst is the Novena's being offered by Angela Abruzzi's grandmother Rose. They own the Blue Dragon Vineyard in Sonoma and are having major financial problems which Angela hopes to solve by renting the vineyard as a movie set. When Magnus and children arrive, the director cons Angela into taking them home. All think they're actors until Magnus finally realizes what year it is and convinces Angela. A farmer by trade, he loves the vineyard and since he brought 4 chests of coins that sell for $70,000 each, money is not an issue. Magnus and Angela fall in love, but he doesn't want any more children and she does. Finally they work it out, he reunites with his brothers and it ends happily.

LOTS of detailed sex. Fluffy read time travel. Almost believable.

Wow! It’s beyond my expectation. I thought it would be boring since the ML was a father with 11 children, but it wasn’t. I loved him. Magnus was a Viking who never I imagined, he was funny, a bit silly, a bit grumpy, and very wise and responsible. He wasn’t a perfect father yet he was best father for his children. Ooh~~ It’s always be funny to read Magnus’s mind. 😆 The way he always made false interpretations of the modern words always caught me off guard, like “actor” became “act-whore”. 😭🤣🤣

9 children were always chaotic, but somehow it filled the story. They were fun to read. The relationship between father and children in this story was something I waited for.

The story focused on Magnus as main character that’s why I attached to him. For FL and her family, I didn’t have much to tell. They were kind and made a very lovely family with Magnus’s.

Overall, this novel was ridiculous, extremely ridiculous. 🤣🤣

En lugar de explorar una trama que podría haber sido muy interesante, nos quedamos con un vikingo bastante cortito y orejón y su nueva novia... de la que es mejor no hablar. Y que sería mejor que no hablara, porque cuando deja ver su auténtica forma de ser resulta bastante intragable.

Al menos el vikingo mantiene su "entusiasmo" durante todo el libro, aunque yo leyendo lo fui perdiendo poco a poco.

I was laughing so hard in the beginning of the novel my family was starting to get suspicious about my supposed studying. I liked the book overall and I definitely liked the humour.

I wonder how the time travel in this book worked. Was there a time portal somewhere in the ocean?
Also, when Grandma Rose prayed for a man for Angela, she had to go back a 1,000 years? No man from 2003 would have done the trick, lol.

Like other people were saying, this book was pretty ridiculous. I loved the kids, though, and wouldn't mind reading Torolf's book.

I love this!

I don't like many time traveling romances but this one is amazing. A Viking named Magnus Ericsson going on a journey with his nine children and somehow ending up in post modern Hollywood. He meets a woman named Angela and believes she is his destiny.

I loved this book. Not only did it make me laugh until I was breathless, it also had heart as well. I love Sandra Hill's books. This one was no exception. I recommend this book.
