My dad and stepmom have several tattoos each and I wanted to get them a nice coffee table book about tattoos. This book was PERFECT. Not only does it have some incredible photos of some outstanding tattoos, but it also contains great text on the history of tattooing, the history of several different styles of tattoos and talks knowledgeably about the prominent people who've shaped the tattoo medium. Consideration of the kind of tattoo you want (and where) is also discussed along with how to care for your tattoo after you get it. A fantastic book whether you're interested in getting a quick crash course on tattooing or if you just want to look at some incredible photos of some truly striking tattoos.

I really found it very informative. The origin of styles the meaning of elements and the progression. I think it is a must read for anyone that is intrigued with the art form or for the first time tattoo.
