The poetry, reflections, rants, and dreams in this curious documentation of the authors' winter at a Zen monastery explore the influence of the dharma in human relationships. Their candid record offers insight into the challenges - spiritual and otherwise - of raising a family, sustaining a marriage, and participating in an eccentric spiritual community in Colorado.
It was mildly amusing and readable. A great idea for a book. I wouldve liked to have read more of the poetry they produced. If you see the Buddha, kill him. But this next saying is by me:
rain pachinkos onto neon signature: GOOD NOODLES HERE * Anyway. Another good Buddha book is 'Every Buddha, Same Price'. But even better is 'The Birds of Appetite" translated by Thomas Merton. Which leads one to WS Merwin's 'Asian Figures'. Just astounding and astonishing works. Chaung Tzu, too.
not quite what i had hoped for. too many differences between them. gave it two stars because i can't bear to have finished a book in its entirety and give it only one.
