This is a great book for independent reading, it easy and less pages. This book hooks me in a lot, by the way the characters act and the word they say. The most hooking part is the ending of every chapters, it makes you want to read more. Even when you finish the book, it still hooks you to read the next. This story was like not finish, but actually it is. I recommend this book to the young adult because it tells you how to deal with social issues, and it was interest. Are you getting excited? I am! Hope you enjoy this book.
An interesting story about a boy living in a lower class home and being able to go to a school which uses alternative learning. I think they way they combined the boy's attitude towered the hippies and the way the hippies act in the school. If you are interested in a short love story or reading about adventures in the outdoors you would like this book. I think the theme of the book is that there is always a place for you.
I liked the book a lot. That’s why it has 4 stars. It was not long and was easy to read but was vary well. It was about 170 pages anyway close to that .What happens is Mike goes to a thing called Explore and at the beginning he does not like it at all. But once he is there fore awhile he ends meeting a kid that is like him. The kid asks if he wants to go make trouble but Mike does not want to go. The kid trashed the Explore camp and had to clean up trash on the side of the road. Mike grows to like a girl named Lisa but does not know she just being his friend. Explore goes on a trip to go skiing in the hills and gets left in the dust more like snow. A girl finds him and brings him to the cabin. All the kids laugh at him because he was brought up by a girl. He gets a cold and the other kids went skiing. He goes out side and tries to ski again and does it. The book teaches you that just because you don’t think you would like it you might like it.
I thought that this was a great book. This was an action packed book that was full of changes and surprises. Mike was a bad kid who stole stuff and did bad things. Now he had a choice of either going to Juvenal Detention or a program called Explore. Mike choose Explore witch is a program where kids try outdoor activities like making a fire and camping out. My favorite part was when the Explore group goes on a ski trip and Mike ends up saving a girl that had been trapped in snow for 4 hours and almost unconscious. My favorite character was Mike because even though he was a trouble maker he was a good kid. I think his crush helped him out a lot by keeping his act together. Over all this was a good book. This was the first book I really got into. I want to read more books by Christy Goerzen.
I gave this book three stars because its a realistic fiction, and it has some good parts in it like when Mike Longridge has to go to a place called explore which is a outdoor activities facility or he could have gone to JDC or the juevenille detention center. And the reason he has to all this stuff is because he has got into lots of trouble by doing these bad things he has to make a choice to stay at the explore facility or go to the juevnille detention center. Other wise this is a great book to read for some people.
I rated this book four stars because this kid get caught by the police when him and his friends break the window of the old ladys house and when they all leave the boy doesnt and he sweeps up the glass and takes the blame but he gets sent to explore where you get back on track. He starts to like it but he saves a girls life when they go skiing he is not to good so he stay behind and then he gos on his on and he does good then down the hill he sees a ski and theres a girl s hanging above a deep whole and he saves her then he stays for school the next year and becomes a good kid.
I gave this book a 4 because i really liked it. Do I recommend it yes I do because people who likes social issues and a lot of problems with like this. This man gets his self in trouble by setting a trap for his teammate and boom the teammate almost gets injured and see what happens next by reading it so I really do recommend it to people who like social issues and people who likes serious problems in books.
This was a funny book about a boy trying to fit in with kids that have a more sheltered life then he has. After being arrested he is given 2 choices, juvenile lockup, or, Explore: one semester of hiking, biking, and outdoor fun second semester of school. Who woudn't pick Explore? Was it the wrong choice for this delinquent?
I initially liked the concept, good kid led astray and sent to wilderness day camp as last chance before juvie, but just ended up totally unrealistic and I couldn't buy in. Good for kids who want a quick, uncomplicated read.
"Explore" is a book about an at risk teenage boy who is encouraged by an officer at his high school to attend a program called "Explore". At "Explore" Mike engages in many outdoor activities and survival training. Mike makes new friends and has a few good adventures.
This is a quick read but enjoyable. Mike is sent to Explore as his last chance before heading to juvie. His entire life has been about moving to a new place and quickly finding ways to get into trouble. Explore is not only his last chance, it is potentially life changing.
