Danielle The Book Huntress (Back to the Books)
I have to say that Kim really made this book for me. I admired her for her emotional integrity and fortitude. I liked that she took a painful past and used it to be stronger and didn't mull on the past. She isn't a wallflower at all. She's actually very fashionable and feminine, although she does have a few insecurities about her extreme height and being teased about it in the past, also from what her ex-fiance' did to her. I like that she was able to stand strong against Blaise, who is a bulldo ...more

I liked this, the romance was quiet absent and on the down-low.
The heroine has always been self-conscious of her height and her engagement ended in disaster(her fiancee was gay), so her career is all she wants as of now, she applies for a new job and her boss is demanding and focused and she falls for him, but she's not one of those simpering women who melt at a look.
She challenges his view of love and even goes as far as to quit but he wises up.

And they just share a kiss before all of this happ

I can't respect a heroine who says she is in love with the hero but makes out with the other man in hero's house with his daughter present. Gross.

I just loved the heroine in this book. She gave it all back and more!

Four years ago, Kim was devastated when her fiancé left her just weeks away from the wedding. Seems he finally realized that he was gay. Given that the heroine grew up feeling like the ugly duckling due to her height, this sends her into a confidence death spiral. She finally comes around realizing that the "HEA" isn't for her, so she devotes herself to having a rewarding career. She is smart, sexy, feisty, but also a very lov

I read this pretty much for the title alone but found it surprisingly good. I've now breezed through a number of Brooks' backlist and the ones I've chosen share similar themes/characters.

1) Older (mid-late 20s/early 30s!) female virgins
2) Older, experienced heroes - think mid-late 30s
3) Heroes who only want no-strings relationships due to some woman who done them wrong in the past
4) Heroines who are attractive but don't necessarily see themselves as such or don't care about their looks
5) Heroin

It is very refreshing to read the main characters are nice people and no cruel insults when they communicate. Plus the heroine knew what she wanted to get out from a relationship and has the courage to stand by it. I enjoyed this story very much.

This was enjoyable enough to finish, and I liked the characters well enough. The kid sounded accurate for the age she was meant to be. BUT. If the only queer characters in your story are villains/bad/awful people then you are being homophobic. This is an ongoing problem in harlequins. All it would take is to make one or two of the other incidental, non-negative, characters be queer. Maybe the dude's previous PA could have been a lesbian having a baby with her wife. This story is recent enough th ...more

It is a heady combination, but she knows she must resist. Especially when her playboy boss makes it plain that he longs to get to know his chaste secretary rather better...but that he will never offer her anything more than a temporary affair..

It was a good read. At times it sort of dragged on because it lacked a little of action. But I did enjoy finding out why the characters were the way they were.

Ok. Not great. I really don't know how to review this book. The end was pretty good. I guess the story progressed as it went on.

Really enjoyed this book. Kept me turning pages, right until the end. I wish there had been some intimacy a little earlier in the book, but the story was great anyway.

I haven't read many romances, and I picked this up expecting it to be raunchy and dumb, but it was actually pretty nice. Romance novels are often represented in pop culture by torn bodices and tumescent members, but this one was more about the protagonist's internal struggle. She's attracted to her boss, but she wants to be a professional, and she's still reeling from a broken engagement. It does get a bit cheesy in parts, particularly where out of nowhere we learn that the titular Boss is also ...more

Rita Bradshaw was born on 1950 in Northampton, England, where she was educated as a good Christian. She met Clive, her husband, at the age of 16 andnow the magic is still there. They have three lovely children, Cara, Faye, and Benjamin, and have always had a menagerie of animals in the house, which at the present is confined to two endearing and very comical dogs who would make a great double act ...more
