Like any anthology, this one can be uneven. There are a couple clunkers, but the stories that get it right, the writer nails all the over the top violent, insane, sexy, action packed, hot, bloody surreal pulp magic of the classic Spider stories. Every other story reads like a great summer comic book movie. Brilliant stuff. I love that Moonstone comics has gotten a hold of so many of these great old characters and I hope they do more of these anthologies.
This book is pure adrenaline. Great fun. Every author is trying and mostly succeeding at channeling his or her inner Norvell Page. This is a pure pulp effort that is joyously and unashamedly BAD FOR YOU. On purpose.
