Earl Mindell is a Canadian-American writer and nutritionist known for advocating nutrition as preventive healthcare and promoting homeopathy. He earned a pharmacy degree from North Dakota State University in 1963 and later received a Master Herbalist Diploma from Dominion Herbal College. Mindell has published more than 50 books, including the widely known Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible, first published in 1979. His writings have attracted substantial criticism from scientists and nutrition experts, who have challenged the accuracy and evidentiary basis of many of his health claims. His statements about vitamins, herbal remedies, superoxide dismutase, and goji juice have been particularly controversial. Mindell has also faced scrutiny over his Ph.D. from Pacific Western University, an unaccredited institution. Despite the criticism, his books have remained influential in the popular nutrition and alternative health market, where he has promoted dietary supplements and natural approaches to wellness.

You can't really read this book as it is a reference book. I will tell you...as a professional who has read a lot of these books...this guy knows his stuff. He writes simply and effectively. He is easy enough for the lay person but interesting enough for the professional. This is a great resource for those that want another option other than drugs. He discusses more than herbs. He also talks about what other things can help...honey for allergies or exercise for depression. Some of these things I already knew but there are some that I didn't.

This is a great book --you won't have to read every page but it does tell you how to find herbal (healthier) ways to maintain a healthier lifestyle than taking prescription pills for everything. I have seen some older people take so many pills they don't have a clue what they are all for and do not know what they need or don't need to take. This book will continue to tell you that you need to be proactive in staying healthy and asking questions about alternative ways to finding answers without taking more pills.

Good read---great reference book to have.

Having worked with Earl Mindell's sage advice (Vitamin Bible) for about 45 years, I found this book interesting in that he speaks medical jargon in layman's terms so that the reader easily understands how the inward parts of our bodies work with, or against, the foods, drugs, liquids, etc. we put therein. I am in my 80s, still in very good physical and mental health, and I attribute my good health to a direct path to Mindell's acquired knowledge and wonderful research - it works!

amazing read! must read again. too much info to remember it all. obviously to be taken with a grain of salt because some conditions cant always be cured with natural remedies only because of the seriousness of their condition. (based upon my personal experience with my migraines)

Learned a lot, mainly searching for advice on migraines and found a lot of good tips to try. The book also discusses many other health issues, so could be a highly worthwhile read for many.
