This is a brief look (approx. 140 pp.) at the history and culture of Virginia.
There is lots of interesting information here, including:
In 1619 the citizens of Virginia formed a legislative body called the House of Burgesses. The present-day state assembly is the direct descendant of that governing body, making it the oldest group of elected officials in the U.S. --Wow!
Only one breed of sporting dog comes from America -- the Chesapeake Bay Retriever. There is a whole page dedicated to information and history surrounding the Chessie.
Virginia sitting on Chesapeake Bay & the Atlantic Ocean has a state shell: Oyster; State Boat: Chesapeake Bay Deadrise; State Dance: Square Dance and more interesting items on their "State Survey".

Arthur Ashe, Warren Beatty, Richard E.
