The introductory content showed me a whole new wild side of Rebbe Nachman and his messianic aspirations. I didn't enjoy the stories. Definitely learned a lot about what kabbalistic breslov theology actually is, and it isn't just to be happy all the time. These are dense kabbalistic stories that are kind of a slog (although I did enjoy a few), they're not simple folk tales.

One of the best collections of stories I’ve ever read. From the first line, you are thrown into the confidence of a storyteller of supreme and alien quality. Anyone who has experienced a shudder of understanding in the very best works of Kafka, or Kleist for that matter, will recognize quickly the import of this book.
