I love history. I especially love the history of World War II. I have read many many books on the subject, and I still do. To me, there is always something new to learn no matter how many books I read. Back in 1988, I bought a copy of the book I am reviewing and went through it a lot. Unfortunately, as things happen, it was lost in a move. Then one day, on a lark, I typed the title as I remembered it, and lo and behold there was a copy of this book, but it was from a used book dealer on Amazon. It was listed as in good condition, but the condition was more like new!
This book is fully illustrated and covers the airplanes from both the Allies and the Axis. It is complete with just about any kind of statistic an aviation buff could wish for. The illustrations are fantastic, some art, some actual photos.
Two dings. 1) The binding is really tight. Now it makes the book stronger but makes looking at the illustrations difficult because of the tight binding. 2) The print is small, and unless you are an aviation technician, you will not understand half of what you read.
All of this considered I am happy I have become reacquainted with this book. I give it 4 bookmarks out of 5.
