Good overview of Biblical History

I grew up with a dispensational mindset but have become reformed in my theology. Besides the sections that make Israel the ultimate fulfillment of Scripture, the book was excellent in its overview of the conflict between Satan and God's people. It was written in an easy to understand way and was very informative in its overview of this conflict from creation forward. I would recommend this book for younger Christians who are trying to get an understanding of hist

This book has been a pivotal part of my spiritual journey and shaped my understanding of the scriptures. Dr. Showers was one of my profs in school. He is a great man and the real deal. This book is easy to read and presents the scriptural narrative in a way that will shape the way you will view the world, what has gone wrong and how God is going to fix it.

Clear and precise account of church history, specifically detailing Satan's conflict with God in past ages to the present. It was a short and very thought-provoking message.

He focuses particularly upon his premise which shows a conflict between God and Satan throughout each historical epoch. Showers has an enjoyable, concise writing style that moves at a swift pace. He is also a Dispensational theologian, which shows quite clearly in his biblical interpretation of the biblical areas, but comes especially to light in his chapters concerning eschatology, particul ...more

“When God gave Israel its first great victory at Jericho (Josh. 6), Satan attacked. God had commanded the Israelites not to keep anything from Jericho for themselves (Josh. 6:17–19). One man disobeyed. As a result, Israel was defeated soundly when it attacked the next city, Ai. God countered Satan’s move to start general disobedience in the nation by ordering the guilty man and his family stoned to death (Josh. 7). Satan’s next attack caught Israel off guard. He was determined to preserve some of the depraved Canaanites so that Israel would be exposed to their degeneracy. The people of the city of Gibeon deceived Israel into believing that they were not Canaanites. Without consulting God first, Israel made a covenant not to destroy the Gibeonites. Thus these pagan people were permitted to remain in the midst of Israel (Josh.” 0 likes
“Christ has given one commission to the Church, and He has not changed it. We should be making every effort to evangelize the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1–8 (Mk. 16:15), to ground believers in the rest of God’s truth by systematically teaching them God’s Word (Mt. 28:19–20; Eph. 4:11–12), and to pray earnestly for God to send a great spiritual awakening that will be instigated, governed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit and completely conformed to God’s thoughts, ways, and truth. THE CONFLICT FROM THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH TO ETERNITY FUTURE The Rapture of the True Church WHEN THE TIME COMES FOR GOD to prepare Israel for restoration to her original place of blessing, His purpose for the true Church in the world will have been fulfilled.” 0 likes
