The book provides me many interesting critical reading and writing exercises, from analyzing newspaper articles to academic book excerpts. I was most surprised to know that urban legends and humorous cartoons can actually be great exercise materials for students as well. Before each critical reading section, there is an introduction of the text, vocabulary related, and author's brief biography. Within each chapter there are information about Jazz and especially the last section is the summary of jazz development throughout history. I recommend this book for students and teachers who want to approach both critical reading and writing, and to hone these skills.
