Nice intro for kids (and adults) to organic gardening. It explains the problems with pesticides and includes an easy recipe for an insect repellent as well as a list of common pests and other natural repellents for them. It also has very straightforward information about what are the easiest plants to start with, how to determine what type of soil you have, etc. It is overall very easy to follow, although I think they could have used a few more details and illustrations for their discussion of g ...more

Recommends it for: parents reading with their children
Our girls saved some seeds from our Halloween pumpkins so that we could grow some pumpkins next year. We've talked quite a bit about the planning and effort involved in gardening and our oldest borrowed this book from her Elementary School library to help us prepare. This is a great book for kids - simple and concise instructions, big and bright photographs, and a sensible approach to organic gardening.
