Lovely book but a bit outdated at this point. Worth taking a look at though.

Fantastic collection of bios of UK textile artists. From the very start it is excellent - a brilliant foreword (by E Lucie-Smith) on Stitchery & Society, covering the gendered history of embroidery; the contemporary art world's current disrespect for and suspicion of manual skill in art-making; a new and different breach between the world of fine arts & crafts; the issues around the continued male dominated fine art world and female dominated craft world. Following the introductions are varied and interesting bios of passionate and accomplished textile artists born between the 1920's and 1960's.
