I always love this author for making figures from the Bible real people.

This story did not hold my attention as others by the same author have.

A fan of Traylor's historical biblical novels, like Song of Abraham, I was disappointed with this. Perhaps it's because it's been over 15 years since I last read one of her books and things change.

The episodic nature of the storytelling made it read like an extended biblical passage, which negates the reason for creating a biblical novel. This alienated me from a necessary emotional connection.

When it focused a few times on the internal battles of the characters, like Rahab, it was at its stro
I enjoy reading books that a give more dimension to people in the Bible. There are some interesting aspects of Joshua in this novel that I had not considered. This, however, is not one of Ms Traylor's better novels and much of the story revolves around Moses rather than Joshua.

The story of Joshua and his travels from Egypt to Jericho is inspiring. But, this story runs slow. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

I read Joshua, son of Nun by the same author. I assume this is the same book with a slightly different title.
