This third edition expands the discussion of the differences in environmental politics between liberal democracies, military dictatorships and one party states, drawing on research conducted in Burma, Thailand, China and Iran. Topics covered This text offers readers a greater understanding of international, national and local environmental politics and looks at future developments for effective local and international environmental diplomacy and both global and region-specific problem solving.
An excellent introduction to the multidisciplinary field of environmental politics. It describes in a basic manner, filled with concrete examples, how different actors interact within different contexts. The only aspect, within the interdisciplinary framework, missing is perhaps a lack of philosophical introduction to a variety of political thinking; the post-structuralist ideas could be elaborated with regards to Foucault to better understand the post-structuralist ENGOs. All-in-all it an extraordinary book for students, activists and other generally interested people, trying to get a good beginning into the politics of the environment.
