I had very different feelings while reading Higuchi Ichiyo's book. I felt warm and delighted, then feelings changed to some melancholy and sadness. Than I had some kind of hope towards the heroes of the book, then I somehow lost this hope.
The people described in the book are so different, but they all share unhappiness and some kind of burden in their life. They all have their hopes and fears, their love and yet they all end up by having no chance to make their wishes come true.
This book is good for reading in a long rainy day in summer, with an open window and a sound of rain full of sadness and maybe also a little bit of grief.
