Un bateau chargé d'oranges accoste dans un port des Iles Kouriles, au sud du Kamtchatka, en Extrême-Orient soviétique. Cela se passe dans les années 1960 du XXe siècle et à deux cents kilomètres à la ronde, chacun abandonne ses occupations et se précipite. Cinq personnages, Victor Kalyga, Nicolas Kaltchanov, Herman Kovalev, Lucia Kravtchenko, La Racine, se racontent et racontent leur course aux oranges.

Vassili Axionov dressait alors, dans ce roman, le portrait d'une génération de jeunes gens mécontents de la vie qu'ils découvraient mais qui pensaient encore pouvoir la changer.

Paru en français en 1966, ce roman mythique d'Axionov ― un de ses premiers ― était devenu introuvable. Il sort en Babel à l'occasion de la parution du roman Lumineuse Césarienne, chez Actes Sud.

Vasily Pavlovich Aksyonov (Russian: Василий Аксенов) was a Soviet and Russian novelist. He is known in the West as the author of The Burn (Ожог, Ozhog, from 1975) and Generations of Winter (Московская сага, Moskovskaya Saga, from 1992), a family saga depicting three generations of the Gradov family between 1925 and 1953.

He was the son of Evgenia Ginzburg, jewish russian writer, teacher and survivor of a stalinist gulag.

Za normálnych okolností 3*. Ale niečo sa mi na príbehu páčilo, akýsi druh nostalgie, keď som ako malý chlapec po prvý krát uvidel kiwi, ktoré otec doniesol nevedno odkiaľ a ako veľkú vzácnosť rozdelil medzi piatich členov rozjarenej rodiny. Ale aj pätina kiwi postačila na hlboký zážitok vrytý do pamäti až dodnes. Niečo ako pomaranče z Maroka, ktoré ohúrili osoby z tejto knihy.

En l'espace d'une traversée pour chercher son lot d'oranges arrivées du Maroc, on se fait ouvrir une fenêtre sur la vie de gens de la Russie extrême orientale. Jeunes protagonistes, travailleurs, ouvriers, ingénieurs.
Le ton du récit est leger, mais renseigne cependant sur la dynamique qui mue cette jeunesse et ses rêves.

"Боже ты мой, конечно, я знал, что наша Земля – песчинка в необъятных просторах Вселенной, и в свете этого походы Александра Македонского несколько смешили меня, но сознание того, что мы вообще явление «маловероятное», на какое-то время поразило меня, да и сейчас поражает, когда я об этом думаю. Стало быть, все это чудеса чудес? Бесчисленные исключения из правил, игра алогичности? Например, чудо апельсина. Случайные переплетения маловероятных обстоятельств, и на дереве вырастает именно апельсин, а не граната-лимонка. А человек? Подумайте об этом, умники. Вы же ученые, вы же знаете все это лучше меня, ну, так подумайте".

"Oranges from Morocco." Northern romance, someone goes here for the fog and the smell of the taiga, someone for a long ruble (the northern allowances allowed the guys from the simple ones to create a start-up capital, just like they are now participating in the SVO), someone stays here after serving their sentence. It's clear. that the diet is poor, not in terms of the amount of food, but in terms of its variety. And now, the news about the arrival of a ship loaded with Moroccan oranges is spreading around the region. In the era of commodity abundance, you can't explain this, but I still remember how in the early 80s there was a queue of several rows around our vegetable store when oranges were "thrown away". usually a couple of times a winter. We stood in it for several hours to get no more than two kilos in one hand. The capital of the Union Republic, for a moment. Now imagine the excitement that arose at the news of oranges in these God-forsaken lands, where most have never seen such a miracle.

The whole coast rushes into Meltwater, the narrative relay flies from one narrator to another. Who has a premonition of love, who has a love drama, who, as the most negative of the local heroes, has a Root story close to what happened to Aksenov himself: the arrest of his parents at 37, an orphanage, bad company, the first arrest for showing off, then the flagellation. Valya, a nice girl from Krasnodar, came here to escape harassment in the workplace (in our current terms). The beautiful Katya, the engineer's wife, turns everyone's heads and does not notice that she is already in love with Nikolai, who is just a master. it means that she is much lower on the hierarchical ladder, and besides, she is already expecting a child, and there is no way to change anything. And everything is so tightly intertwined, so touching. It's sad, funny, full of such tenderness and thirst for life. that you're just drowning in this stream while reading.

Конечно Вася, ну кто ж его не знает?!
Я из большинства, чья влюбленность в Аксенова началась "Островом Крымом", в 1990. Хотя знакомство случилось раньше. Года за два до того, подруга сказала, что была такая книга про молодых врачей, "Коллеги", круче Сэлинджера - ее родители рассказывали, что в юности зачитывались, сейчас автора никто не помнит. Я тогда попросила почитать и кажется она даже давала мне маленькую серую книжку в картонной обложке с молодыми людьми в кузове грузовика. который куда-то мчится - такое, в стилистике художественного оформления, характерного для 60-х. Но поискала сейчас в интернете - единственная публикация была в "Юности" 1960, а журнала мне, точно, не давали. Причуда памяти?

И я не знала тогда, что страшный "Крутой маршрут" Евгении Гинзбург, который читала примерно тогда, в той же - это воспоминания мамы того парня, что написал "Коллег". И обе мы не знали, что возрожденная группой "Браво" песня: "Конечно Вася, стиляга из Москвы", которую напевали тогда примерно все - что она о нем, о Василии Аксенове. Это длинное вступление к тому, что Аксенов классик не потому, что кто-то решил объявить его таковым, а по уровню проникновения в самые разные сферы, по степени влияния на умы и сердца на самых разных этапах.

Три повести нового сборника, который выпустила Редакция Елены Шубиной, написаны в начале шестидесятых, в реальности, столь далекой от нашей, а учитывая, что аксеновскую прозу не назовешь вневременной, я сомневалась: как это будет читаться сейчас? Не покажется ли безнадежно устарелым? Не разочарует ли? "Нет" - ответ на оба вопроса. Такая простая стилистически и непростая структурно проза, хотя и без постмодернистских выкрутасов - здесь смена ракурса и перемещения во времени воспринимаются естественно, не украшательством ради выпендрежа.

"Апельсины из Марокко". Северная романтика, кто-то едет сюда за туманом и за запахом тайги, кто-то за длинным рублем (северные надбавки позволяли ребятам из простых создать стартовый капитал, примерно как сейчас участие в СВО), кто-то - остается здесь, отбыв срок. Понятно. что рацион скудный, не по части количества пищи, а по ее разнообразию. И вот, регион облетает весть о прибывшем судне, груженом марокканскими апельсинами. В эпоху товарного изобилия этого не объяснишь, но я еще помню, как в начале 80-х вокруг нашего овощного закручивалась очередь в несколько рядов, когда "выбрасывали" апельсины. обычно пару раз за зиму. Стояли в ней по несколько часов, чтобы получить не больше двух кило в одни руки. Столица союзной республики,на минутку. Теперь представьте ажиотаж, поднявшийся при известии об апельсинах в этих богом забытых краях, где большинство такого чуда в глаза не видело.

Все побережье устремляется в Талый, эстафета повествования перелетает от одного рассказчика к другому. У кого предчувствие любви, у кого любовная драма, у кого, как у самого отрицательного из здешних героев, Корня - история, близкая к тому, что было с самим Аксеновым: арест родителей в 37, детдом, дурная компания, первый арест за выпендрежную выходку, потом бичевание. Хорошая девушка Валя из Краснодара приехала сюда, спасаясь от харассмента на рабочем месте (в наших сегодняшних понятиях). Красавица Катя, жена инженера, кружит головы всем подряд и не замечает, что уже влюблена в Николая, который всего лишь мастер. значит на иерархической лестнице много ниже, а к тому же уже ждет ребенка, и нет возможности что-то изменить. И все так туго переплетено, так трогательно. грустно, забавно, исполнено такой нежности и жажды жизни. что просто захлебываешься этим потоком, читая.

This is the first novel I've read from Russian author Vasily Aksyonov. The story is set in Extreme Orient of the Soviet Union early 1960's during communism era. The novel follows several characters, whom are men and women, living and working in this extremely remote and cold region. Each of these characters have his/her own pasts and reasons to be there coupled with an uncertain future. However, their lives are suddenly embellished at least for one night when they hear that an entire ship just arrived from Morocco filled with oranges. All rush to the ship to buy and taste this rare source of vitamins from another world, representing something different for everyone and same thing for all. All joins together for a night off to happiness where anything can happen and life turns around.

The multi-characters story are always difficult to read because readers can easily get lost on who's who, which was the case for me here. The story is nicely written, but nothing exceptional.

Nakon čitanja romana Moskva kva kva i Retki element, koje je Aksjonov pisao pred kraj života, i nakon ruske serije Tatjanstvena strast nastale po njegovom autobiografskom romanu, zanimalo me je da pročitam neku stariju njegovu knjigu. Na Kupindu sam naišla na Pomorandže iz Maroka, jedan od ranih romana koji je u Jugoslaviji preveden iste godine kada je objavljen 1963. Još jednom sam se uverila da je Aksjonov izvanredan pisac. Osim toga, imao je zanimljiv život, i bio interesantna ličnost koja je uvek "terala po svom". Zahvaljujući Geopoetici mlađa domaća publika je dobila priliku da ga upozna, ali se nadam da će neko od izdavača prevesti još njegovih knjiga.

I start so many books, but never get to end. Well finally a book I finished.
A very surprising one. I didn't know anything about this book before finding it thrifted and jumping immediately into it. I just got so curious when I saw a russian book from the Soviet period with this title.
You really get the soviet atmosphere.
I just loved the structure of the book : we follow a bunch of people during a day and a night, and we're told the story from different perspectives. It just serves so well the humanity of the characters. We know their dreams, we feel their pains, and we hope everything is gonna turn all right for them. + Lucia deserves the world.

Le r?cit, bien qu'il d?crive bien les conditions de vie et l'?tat d'esprit des gens, manque de l?g?ret? et de dynamisme. Quelques passages longs.
