A young boy named Chuck goes for a simple walk that turns into a day of crazy adventures. Chuck encounters animals, fish and birds that lead him on a wild journey throughout their habitats.
Jordan Wheeler's whimsical rhyming will capture the young readers attention and Chuck's hilarious predicaments will keep all ages laughing for more.
The plot of this one is fun and adventurous, but I really, really, really did not like the art. It is told in rhyming text that works sometimes and fails in rhythm at others.
This reminded me of a Robert Munsch tale. Chuck goes for a walk and has all kinds of adventures and close escapes. It’s hilarious. The cartoon illustrations enhance this humour. My only complaint is that it’s written in rhyming verse and while it works most of the times, there are sections where it doesn’t and the flow of the language falls apart.
Just a Walk is a cute rhyming story, perfect for any adults or children interested in a kid having a solo wacky adventure in nature. Christopher Auchter is not one of my favourite artists, as I don't really enjoy his character designs, but the scenery and animals here are great to look at.
Indigenous publisher. Cree author. Haida illustrator. Yes !!! A fully indigenous created children’s book that... wait for it... is awesome, entertaining, and full of adventure. Parents and teachers should check this out because I think kids will love it. My only criticism is that I wish it was longer and included some Cree translation.
Loved this book so much!! Beautiful illustrations. Fun and engaging read aloud with potential for exploration/inquiry of animals encountered on 'the walk'.
This is an adorable rhyming book featuring a First Nations boy going on a topsy turvy adventure through the woods. My son absolutely loves it and I'm hoping to add it to his school's library too!
Really enjoyable pictures in this sort of cause and effect picture book of a young Aboriginal boy walking through the woods getting in adventures with the animals around him. I read this just after I had read one of Laura Numeroff's If You Give a Mouse books and it had the same impact on kids. Very funny, and they were wondering what would happen next to Chuck (just like the mouse).
This is a fantastic picture book! The illustrations really made me laugh out loud! The story follows chuck as he goes out for a walk and ends up on the wildest ride through nature. Great!
