Actually reading the updated 5th edition.

I read this from cover to cover as a means to study for the Network+ exam. While I did not pass the test (I was somewhat close), I really think this is a good book to read if you want to study this particular subject. I learned a lot and experienced several moments of clarity. Unlike some instructional/study texts, Michael Meyers does not talk down to the reader or attempt to explain something as he would a five-year-old child. That is a definite plus for me.

Excellent description of Network+ objectives. Book is fun and easy to read.
Only drawback was that the software only has 50 questions. The two tests just shuffle the same questions. I had to study the in-book questions a lot, rather than just relying on the software engine.

Great book. Easy to read and understand. He made me understand in seconds concepts that my old teacher simply could not explain properly. Oh, and I got 880/900 on the exam!

This book is packed with tons of useful and practical information. Being a college professor, I found this book easy to read and understand. I use to be a network administrator but have been on the administrator side for too many years to count. This book was an excellent guide to bring my previous understanding up to date. While I am scheduled to take a boot camp to get myself prepped for the Comp TIA Network+ certification, this book has been a great help. Once again, being an adjunct college ...more

Great study guide! Slightly more difficult than the A+ book but still easy to understand. The exam is booked so know I just have to wait and see if the book did any good in teaching me.

Once again Meyers can be wordy and he still has his silly jokes but other then that it's a great book to learn about networking.

Edit: Exam passed on 16/5/14

Just finished first time through. As a beginner in this field, I definitely felt a bit overwhelmed at certain points and have to read it again. The material was presented very well, however, and the book felt very complete and thorough.

Should have skipped the older version. GRPL should just get rid of it.

Decently informative, and I appreciate that the author doesn't come across as being too dry -- the last thing I need is a tech book that can take the place of sleeping pills! :-)

Recommends it for: Anyone studying for the Network+ exam

Five stars for this book because I read it then passed the exam. Ya can't ask for much more than that. Meyers does a good job of explaining the subject matter in an easy to understand format.
