2.5 stars.

Not unreadable, but definitely not one of Lynch's better books -- this one seemed flatter & more lackluster than her usual prose. The baby aspect was lame; the diary mystery was better (indeed, the historical backstory was much more intriguing than the present-day stuff), but I guessed part of the solution way too early. And the heroine was a drip.

Rounded up because I liked the macabre resolution(s) in the cellar. Y'all know I'm weird like that. ;)
