I grew up on a farm in the Ozarks. It was long ago and far away, in a land before cable TV, video games and the internet. To pass the time we read books, watched (gasp) network TV that rarely came in clear, and had friends over on weekends to play music on the front porch, or card games in the dining room.
The result of growing up 'country' was an active imagination. For fun I wrote stories to entertain myself and I dreamed of being an author. Oh, but first, before writing, I wanted to be a jockey.
Writing won out over being a jockey. In the spring of 2006 I got the call that made those dreams come true: the call that welcomed me into the Steeple Hill family of authors.
The moral of this story, never stop dreaming.

I do enjoy 2nd chance @ marriage stories...

I enjoy a good 'second chance love' story, and Lexi and Colt's fit the bill. It was easy to tell that they had not stopped loving each other from the very beginning of the story, even though they'd been divorced for two years.
I liked how they were able to first find their way back to friendship, and then let that be a base upon which to build. I also appreciated how much Lexi's faith meant to her, and how, in time, Colt also was able to see God's hand even in the difficult circumstances in which they found themselves.

This book's storyline was okay. I liked the Christian theme in this story. I liked Colt's character. I liked Lexi's character. I liked the ending.

Totally addicted to this series, I keep on seeing more and more characters that they need to write about. Can't wait for the next one to come out. I love the fact that their romance was healed even after the sad fact that they had divorced each other two years ago. Amazing how God can heal broken hearts and chance people once they allow Him to do it. Once they both put their faith and trust in Christ, everything else fell into place.

This was a very beautiful story about a couple reuniting, only this time with God in the centre. They restore their faith in God and learn to put their trust in Him.

A typical little romance story.

The third volume in the multi-authored "After the Storm" series. The action takes place in fictional High Plains, Kansas. A huge tornado strikes the town and destroys most of it. Each book follows a different potential couple in these tales of romance and faith as the community gradually rebuilds. Familiar tropes in the romance genre show up. The volumes I've read also were second chance stories. Characters from previous books show up in the stories which gives the series a comfortable small town feel. It's also interesting because you can spot potential main characters for future volumes.
The religious content is found throughout Rekindled Hearts, as in the other volumes, and, even though it's integral to the MCs' journey, it's also not too preachy for other potential readers. Some plot lines are continued from earlier books. The local police chief and the veterinarian were married until they divorced two years before the storm. While both actually still love the other, they have difficulty facing what really went wrong. Actually, it seemed pretty believable that both are gun-shy about whether to become friends again or not.
I'll continue the series. I enjoy the romance parts and sure do want to see whether they ever solve some of the series-long mysteries in the aftermath of the tornado.
Because I saw Greensburg, Kansas, shortly after it was hit by a devastating tornado in 2007, I kept picturing High Plains that way, which made the story more vivid. (Even though High Plains is obviously supposed to be close to Manhattan, which is probably a couple hundred miles away!)

The books are based on a small Kansas town and all that happens after a tornado hits the town.
This is Colt and Lexi's story.
They had been divorced 2 years earlier after Colt withdrew into himself after seeing a fellow officer die and having to tell the wife and kids.

Lexi and Colt learn a great deal about themselves and each other while helping their town bounce back from a devastating tornado. Animals and children add to the enjoyment of the story. The story seems believable and realistic. This is the third book in the series, and I have enjoyed all of them. On to the ones that follow this one!

I really enjoyed this story, but I'm a big fan of stories where characters give their marriage a second shot. It was a quick read and the characters were very believable. Will definitely be reading this again at some point.

I liked the relationship in this book. I thought it was well written and a quick read. I enjoyed the story and found it believable.

I love reading and this book just helps to show how much. I felt hope on each word. I understand the sacrifices and the love this book shows the world.

A tornado brings Lexi and her ex-husband together again but can they get past the way they exited their marriage. Good characters and well written. Part of "After the Storm" series but each can be read alone.
