I can't imagine why they thought it was a good idea to have so few maps in this book. It's an amazingly comprehensive overview of the subject, but I doubt it would be that useful in the field. I want to do a trip to Verdun in 2016, but I don't think this made it any easier to plan. Though it's an interesting reference.
