This is totally one of the most adorable children's books I have ever read! And the illustrations are AMAZING! If you have a little one who loves their dad this book is a must have!

We need more picture books featuring dads! This is a sweet and simple story told in rhyme from a baby bear cub's point of view about all the things he loves to do with his dad: "When it's raining my dad plays a staying-dry trick - To dodge all the raindrops we have to be quick!" As bears, their favorite snack is honey: "We find sticky honey, our favorite snack. Watch my dad run when the bees want it back!" I love the soft illustrations that complement the story perfectly. This would be a wonderful bedtime read-aloud for dads and their children.

This is a picture book for grades K-2. This book is about a young bear and his day. It goes through the adventures of dad and baby bear. I really enjoyed this book. I think kids will really enjoy this book as well. The illustrations were beautiful. There was no white space, very colorful artwork filed all the pages.

Really cute illustrations and pleasant rhyming text documents a day that father and child bear share together. Nothing spectacular or really original here, but it's sweet to see such a cuddly daddy-focused book and the illustrations made me smile.

Summary: This story is about a pair of bears, father and son, who go about their daily lives. The son marvels as his dad’s abilities and hopes to be like him some day. It showcases their close relationship from the beginning when the dad wakes his son up until bedtime when he tells him stories to fall asleep. This father-son duo is truly adorable in all that they do together.
Themes: The themes of this book are the importance of having a role model and knowing that parents will love you no matter what. The father is definitely his son’s role model and the relationship they share is special.
Personal Response/ Recommendation: This book was a very enjoyable and reminded me of my childhood with my dad. I was always so fascinated with what my dad could do and wanted to be just like him. I would recommend this to book to parents to read to their children because of the sweet bond between the father and son bears. This book can teach a child the components of a good relationship and prompt them into figuring out their role model in life.

Very cute book. It’s nice to see a “dad” portrayed as the nurturer, which is not very common amongst children books (I feel like the general norm tends to portray a mother). Think this book helps to open up discussion (as long as you are aware of students’ home lives) about figures who nurture and care and play with you. This could be a dad, it could be a mom, it could be a sibling, it could be a grandparent, it could be the lady down the street, it could be a friend in the class... the list goes on. We want students to recognize that we all come from different backgrounds. And we should acknowledge the good and strive to be that good, kind, nurturing person to others.

Unrealistic from nature and too idealistic for real life. It would have been a smash if it stuck to natural connections found in nature and more realistic dad-kid moments in real life. Even if it turned out half motivational to encourage more heartwarming relationships. Drawings are all too monotone also. I don't know, it didn't work for me.

Another book I wish my son picked more but I think it's because it's on the larger side of his boardbooks. I love the art style, story, and the book is even pleasant to touch with its squishy cover. A great book to have when paired with the mom one!

4 Me and My Dad
i) Me and My Dad is a heartwarming story about Papa Bear and a Baby Bear. The two bears are inseparable. They do multiple activities together like swimming in the river and catching honey. Baby bear idolizes his father. Throughout the story, Baby Bear is repeatedly saying all these great things that his father can do. He says how strong he is, how tall he is, how he comforts him, and how he tells the best bedtime stories. The story emphasizes how strong the bond between a father and son can be.
ii) The major theme for the book is love and how its conquers all. This loving bond between a father and his child shows just how special little things can be when you are doing it with someone you love and care about.
iii) Star Rating: 3
iv) This story reminds me of the relationship between my Grandmother and me. During the summertime, I would stay over her house, and we would do everything together. We would bake cakes together, watch old western movies, figure out word finds, and cook together. Like Papa Bear and Baby Bear, me and my Grandmother were two peas in a pod.
v) I recommend this book for teachers who could start a conversation with their students on the topic of what kinds of things students enjoy doing with their parents. It could lead into what kind of person the children would want to be when they get older. It is a great story that shows how a child can idolize a parent so much and how that makes a difference in a child’s life.

I miss my dad like crazy, and this book made the hurt somewhat pleasurable. My father died about 30 years back, so this book was a painful yet joyful trip thru memory lane when I had a dad that treated me as well as he could, my mom's claims of his infidelity notwithstanding. This poem about a bear cub and the father who loves him enough to treat him to the good things life can offer is bittersweet and beautiful at the same time. I wish I could show you what I mean. This book probably will show you a few clues.

Follows a bear and its dad through the course of a day--from waking to bedtime. The text is in rhyme. The illustrations are cute and soft and fuzzy, as you might expect in this style of book. It's one of those sentimental bedtime reads that celebrate the bond between parent and child--the one thing standing out about this one being that it's focused on dad, instead of the more common "mommy" books.

Cute. This will work as a filler in the Father's Day storytime. Love the illustrations. Rhyming works pretty well. Seems to work better with a boy and his father, but I think the girls in the group will still like it.
6/11/14 This book was fine. Not a fabulous one for humor, which is always a big thing in my storytimes. But it worked. And the kids liked it. And it got them to thinking of how much they love their dads. Works for me.

I can't believe this is a New York Times bestseller when me and my friend Kyle did a similar project years ago and we didn't make a nickel on it! Aside from the sour grapes... I've read it plenty of times already to my kids and like to change and add parts to see if they're paying attention. (And at a month old - I know they're not.)

Me and My Dad! by Alison Ritchie is a heart-warming story about a baby bear and a daddy bear. This can teach children about single parent families and how the number of people in a family are all different. The most important thing to teach from this book is no matter who takes care of you or whoever is in your family that the love from them is never different.
