This book was a Christmas gift from a dear friend, who has not yet read it, so I plunged right in. In fact, I skipped right to Texas, and read those pages with pleasure, reminiscing about sites I've also seen and enjoyed. But when I finished that, and started from the beginning of the book, pretty soon, some discomfort with Huckaby's unnecessary political overlays started to irritate me. I enjoyed him so much more without bringing politics into it. I hope that his references are few, but so long ...more

I really enjoyed this book and it made me want to travel in the United States. I read Mr. Huckaby's columns everyday and love his storytelling.
