Wonderland is a magical place behind your eyelids. I love Alice so much and it's crazy how much stuff they crammed into this tiny little book. A good start to an amazing story.
Tammen kultaiset kirjat -sarjaan kuuluva Liisa Ihmemaassa -kirja, joka kertoo lyhennelmänä Disneyn version Liisasta. Kuvitus on varsin suloinen ja sopivan nostalginen!
Alice in Wonderland Meets the White Rabbit is a Little Golden Book based on the Walt Disney movie. This is one of the few books that I owned as a child. I adored both the movie and the book.
Alice in Wonderland Meets the White Rabbit is a Little Golden Book adaptation (retold by Jane Werner Watson) of the Walt Disney animated movie Alice in Wonderland, which is, of course, an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. Carroll's Alice novels are easily some of my favorites of all time, and I also have a fond appreciation of the animated Disney movie. This book is a very short and succinct summary of the movie's events, and while much of the uproariously hilarious nonsense humor found in the original story is unfortunately missing from this adaptation, it successfully accomplishes what it likely seeks out to accomplish - summarizing the story for young and/or early readers. I especially appreciate the art (done by Walt Disney Studios itself), which jumps out from the pages with bright and vivid colors.
This board book does not even come close to capturing the magic of the animated feature on which it is based, but with just 24 pages to tell the story of a 75 minute film, that effort was doomed. It tried to approximate by cherry picking certain scenes and collapsing others in summaries, so this is not especially interesting as a story, but it is very interesting to study its adaptive strategies. There is also the joy of a falling type set as Alice falls down the rabbit hole and the words descend with her, "And then she began to fall!"
I need to read Alice in Wonderland! There're so many adaptations and spinoffs! Anyway, this is a very simple and short version of Alice looking for the White Rabbit. Not much else to say about it...
This was a weirdly bowdlerised and abridged version of the original story, with illustrations aligned with the Disney animation. I say "bowdlerised" because it is emphasised throughout the retelling that this is a dream and that's why weird things are happening and things don't make sense. However, it was still too weird (and with slightly spooky illustrations) for my toddler.
Bagaimana saya tidak terpesona, bahkan nama tokohnya pun mengalami alih bahasa. Dari Alice menjadi Elisa. Kisahnya semua sama. Mungkinkah dimkasudkan untuk lebih mendekatkan tokoh dengan anak-anak. Tapi Aneh saja kenapa jadi Elisa?
Onhan LIisan tarina, näin lyhyesti tiivistettynä aikamoinen matka. Enkä kyllä muistanut, että Liisa näin paljon maisteli kaikkea, mitä eteen tulikaan. Hui! Kaunis kuvitus ja pehmeä lasku Liisa Ihmemassa tarinaan. Tämän jälkeen voisi lukea ihan oikean Carrollin tarinan.
Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland Meets the White Rabbit, Jane Werner Watson. "Alice, we feel confident, will win many new admirers in this handsome and lively setting." says the introduction, dated 1951. **
Super crazy and fun. I loved how creative all of the characters were. My favorite part was when she got lost in the forest with all the strange creatures.
A cute little adaptation from the original book, though it isn’t done very well and the story is very choppy and hard for children to follow if they don’t already know the story.
