The Halloween Spectacle, by Lesley Hershman, is geared for elementary school ages (the young hero is in the 4th grade) and it's really sweet.

I picked up this little book at a library book sale last year thinking it'd just be something cute to read for Halloween. And it is cute, but I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. It had a certain charm and magic to it that really surprised me. It reminded me of the good old days when Halloween seemed like a bigger deal to people and when there were always plenty of spooky children's books to read at Fall-time, so it was very nostalgic as well.
