Can't wait for book 3!
Miri's story continues with doubts, steps backwards and forwards just like everyone's journey. Love it. And loving the Rachael/Gian story ... can't wait to see how that evolves. Gian reminds me of the Hound on GOT.

I saved this for a long time after I bought it because I am just so sad when I get finished. And of course there is another one coming. But when is the question. When? I am loving Rachæl and Gian and looking forward to what that relationship will bring. But mostly I’m waiting for Phinehas to be crushed, drowned, burned and then hanged or something equally as dastardly and deserving. Love you Morgan.

I can't wait to hear of Miri & Ezra's future.
This entire collection, all seven books have been so fun! Always a rollercoaster of emotions and so relatable in so many ways. I love Morgan's work.

Picking up right where The Stag at Hand left off (as Farris is famous for), this book does not disappoint. This is a breathtaking look at abuse and the aftermath. It's rare to read such a poignant, powerful story that doesn't either read like a self-help book or drag you through the mud. Somehow there is such a light throughout these pages, despite the darkness of the story. Absolutely incredible.
And I will die on this hill -- Ezra is a god.
There, I said it.
“When I have you—when I make love to you, Miri—it will be because you know that I love you. And because you know that there is no one else in the world that I could love like this. There is no one else I want to love but you. There is no one else I would fight for. Bleed for. No one.”
GOD. YES.
The way he loves Miri, the way he protects her and fights for her and never stops... Chivalry isn't dead. It's alive and well in every male in Farris's novels.
And OH MY GOD can we talk about Rachæl and Gian? I knew... KNEW... Gian would be a central figure in this storyline. I just didn't expect it in this way. I loved seeing this side of him. Where he was a callous asshole in book one, he's just... mrrrrr.... how do I put it? He's perfect, that's what. A Rhysand and Jack Sparrow mashup. In all the best ways.... including leather pants.
God, the leather pants.
I think one of my favorite things about Farris's writing is how she weaves so many storylines in at once, especially love stories. And I love how these books are love stories without feeling like a typical romance novel. They're so much deeper and have about a zillion easter eggs.
I will leave with this excerpt from Chapter 28, which I will not say who says it. *evil grin*
“And here I am, lying next to you now, understanding for the first time in my life that the storybooks weren’t wrong. This sort of thing exists. But it starts somewhere so much more honest than in each other’s arms. It starts by learning to trust each other. By getting to know each other over time. And that time and trust builds a kind of intimacy that I never knew possible.
“So you ask me to teach you how to bring me pleasure? My darling, this is a sort of pleasure I never imagined existed. This is a sort of love they write books about.”
