Ella has an on-going battle with chronic pain and an ever growing list of gynaecological issues that no one has been able to diagnose. With the exception of her boss, she has always struggled to find friends who were understanding of her need to cancel plans if a flare up occurred.
That is until Arden and his friends move in.
Could you imagine buying an apartment block to turn into a house for you and your friends, only to find out that the condition of the sale is that one of the tenants remain?
Arden tried everything to have the girl from downstairs removed and it wasn’t until she received an eviction notice that he doesn’t remember sending that things started to change.
It started with a prank here and there but ended with his head of security and the pesky unicorn slipper wearing tenant have him involuntarily admitted into rehab.
Ever since Arden missed the phone call that resulted in sister slipping into a coma he had been spiralling out of control. Every morning he would wake with no recollection of what happened the night before.
Once he’s sober and talking through his issues, Arden starts to remember everything that happened while he was drinking his way through every bottle of bourbon in New Hope. Luckily for him, he is home from rehab just in time to help her, like she helped him.
How will Ella feel when she realises what Arden has done and that he now remembers every conversation that they had?
Arden and the girl down stairs is book 2 in the New Hope World series. This book can be read as a standalone, however to better understand the characters and story it is best to read Chase and the girl who came back first.
Amber Davis is an avid reader who after lots of encouragement from her friends, decided it was time to put pen to paper and write the book that had been niggling at her for some time. Amber suffers from multiple autoimmune and invisible illness diseases and because of this, some of these illnesses are discussed in her books through the life of some of her characters.
She is passionate about bringing awareness to these conditions.
She owns a merch printing company with her best friend and has a whole bunch of other projects on the go.
When she isn’t working or reading, she’s binge watching TV shows and re-watching ALL the Disney movies, especially the classics. She’s a massive fan of all things Disney and has quite a large collection of books and Elmo’s.
Amber is originally from Queensland but has been living in Melbourne with her dog Bella for the past 7 years.
I was really excited for Arden's story after reading Chase and the Girl Who Came Back and I knew I would love him as a hero. And while I did for the most part, unfortunately, I didn't love him as much as I wanted to. For me, he wasn't as involved in his own story as much as I thought he would and he and Ella didn't have a lot of time together on page. A good part of the beginning of the book was mostly just Ella and any time she was with Arden the scene moves very fast.
When Arden and Ella started to actually have a relationship the story moved really fast and there was a lot of scenes we didn't get to see between them. Things would be mentioned as having happened but they didn't get shown on page and it got to be a little annoying. It made the book, especially the ending, feel very rushed. It made me miss the connection between Ella and Arden and by the end I never really saw one.
There were also a lot of characters mentioned and some of them I have no memory of being in the first book and yet they were brought up and shown as if we already had a big background on them.
Overall, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I wanted to but I did still like it. I thought the medical issues were handled well too and that's always fun to see in books. I'm still excited to see what else this author will give us and there are a lot of characters now that I'm looking forward to reading about.
the plot of the story is very intriguing and even the sneak peek from Chase had me ready to read about Arden. however, reading the story in its entirety, some things were a bit lost to me to the point i was skimming through each page. random characters were being introduced as if we knew them from head to toe, dialogue in some felt repetitive, and the timeline of events were just unknown, like there was no segue between major events so it all felt abrupt and/or unprovokingly random
I loved Chase’s story and was really looking forward to Arden’s. I love the characters but this book just felt a little repetitive. Like I was reading the same thing each chapter. I didn’t feel like there was much character/story development outside of Arden and Ella, this was unlike the previous book. Saying that, I will still read the next stories in this series as I want to see where the other characters end up!
Yass!!! I absolutely loved this book and it was so cute and fluffy book. I also loved this series or this duology... I still love Yasmin and Chase and want more of their life and relationship but the small clipping were also there in this book so I loved it...
Yasmin proposed to him but he said that he won't accept her proposal just because he wanted to be the one who proposes in their relationship... INSTANT SWOOON for me, it was so cute, and when in the epilogue, their engagement was shown, it was so wholesome and cute that I wanted to be there in real life...
Anyways, this story is about Arden and Ella not Yasmin and Chase... Ella was so cute and mature at the same time, she used to cut Arden's bow ties just to prank and if someone else would have done that, he might have asked them to buy new ones at least but he didn't because it was Ella who did it.... I was not even mad at Ella for marrying him when he was drunk because all went well and they fell hard in love... I hope that Rhys and Ally end up together and Allison ends up with that girl...
Ella's unicorn slippers were mentioned so many times that I also want unicorn slippers now and Martha's cupcakes and Jarred's brownies were so yummy, Ella's cookies were also so scrumptious that I got hungry..
The first book I read by this author was Chase and the girl who came back and I thoroughly enjoyed it... You do not have to have read anything before this book as it is a standalone however if you would like the full background I would recommend starting with Chase first.....
Arden is such a complex character who takes the responsibilities of others on his shoulders and has a self obsessed need to control everything. His loved ones simply go along with what's easiest to give him that control. Ella however is a unicorn wearing, slogan t-shirt loving girl who takes great pleasure in messing with his life whilst suffering with medical issues herself....
This book had me leaking a tear at how selfless Ella is and then laughing out loud at her antics. I loved the dynamics of the group and the journey Arden and Ella take. It was great to see other characters which we will hopefully meet more in the next book if there is any scheduled... <33

This book was such a pleasant surprise, particularly seeing as I did not realise it had been released yet.
I read Chase and the girl who came back a little while back, maybe last month some time and it was so good. The character development and the individual stories captured my heart, however Amber Davis does know how to write a good cliffhanger.
This book had a similar structure to Chase and the girl who came back, in terms of there was a focus on illness and the main female character had a serious illness that she was battling, all while Arden the main male MC was being a douchecanoe all because he wasn’t there for his sister Julie when her diabetes put her in a coma. (dw she is alive and well).
Now this book was AMAZING and unlike Chase and the girl who came back, there was NO FADE TO BLACK. We got spice and smut and all the rest of it, which honestly made the book so much better for me, and I loved it.
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, and seeing as I am yet to read a Harem trope, it will be interesting.
Also AMBER why the cliffhangers. Millie (Yasmin’s sister) is pregnant and Hayden (Rhys’s brother) is the father.

The first book I read by this author was Chase and the girl who came back and I thoroughly enjoyed it so I was eagerly awaiting another book from some of the other characters featured. You do not have to have read anything before this book as it is a standalone however if you would like the full background I would recommend starting with Chase first.
Arden is such a complex character who takes the responsibilities of others on his shoulders and has a self obsessed need to control everything. His loved ones simply go along with what's easiest to give him that control. Ella however is a unicorn wearing, slogan t-shirt loving girl who takes great pleasure in messing with his life lol whilst suffering with medical issues herself.

I feel like the book had so much potential to be great, but it fell flat for me.
As someone with chronic illness (many of which were represented in this book), I enjoyed the authors choice to include representation. However, I felt some of the representation was over exaggerated and seemed forced.
The author’s writing style includes a lot of telling instead of showing, which personally is not my favorite. The author also moved around a lot and I found the book to be a bit scattered. I believe the author has a lot to say with each of the characters in her story. With as many characters as there are it seemed the author found it difficult to really show well developed characters with a great arc.
I did love the main female character and found her love of graphic t-shirts and unicorn slippers a fun detail and personality quark.
This story had me up reading way later than I probably should admit. 5/5 would recommend
I fell in love with everyone when I read Chase and Yasmins story. Arden is always trying to take care od everyone except for himself. He beat himself up so much about something that was out of his control with his sister. So he was drowning his self guilt in drinking and would end up at the bar that Ella works at every time shes there.. His bodyguard suggest the craziest thing to Ella while Arden is drunk and wont remember anything the next day and of course at first she tells him no. Then the more she got to see Arden and see how much he was hurting but not letting anyone help him she decided to do it. The only thing she wanted out of it in the beginning was health insurance.. He couldnt believe she was helping him because of his friends and family and not because she wanted his money or anything.

I felt the book could have had more interactions between arden and ella. There was literally only one sober interaction before marriage and one drunk interaction on which everything was based on. I would have loved to have more interactions of ella and arden there banters. It was written how they have behaved with each other as a part of backdrop but the scenes were missing. I feel there are bits and pieces missing here and there in the book.
The female character was powerful and her medical struggles were highlighted but the only thing that shocked me was even with so much money and specialists they could not identify the issue which is pretty common in women. A doctor who is training in ER could not think of tests sometimes that arden knows all about.
3,5-4/5⭐ I'm not sure. I had the feeling that Arden wasn't involved in his own story as much as he should be and at some points random characters were introduced and I was like "ähm okay, who are you and what have you to do here". In addition I found the story a little bit too long. I like the characters & the story all in all and the book definitely is a good one but it didn't had the vibe/ effect on me that "Chase and the girl who came back" had.
In July there will be the new book called "Chad and his not harem" and my interest in this reverse harem book is so high that I definitely will read it when it's out. I am really excited and curios about how the author will write about reverse harem/ implement the reverse harem.
Arden and Elle are perfect for each other. Really. They compliment each other so well that even if they’re opposites, they can never run out of ways to show just how much they love each other. 🫶🏼🫶🏼😫😫
They are my favourite couple and I know no one will top them. ✨🥰
Though on one side, I hope they find ways to have children (it’s totally fine if they don’t, people can choose not to have any) because I know Arden would be a wonderful father just as he is a wonderful friend and brother to the people around him. Most of all, a husband. I don’t know.. I feel whole seeing both of them so happy and with so much joy.. Maybe I just want an icing to the cake and give them someone to pour all their love aside from each other. 🥺
I’m giving it two stars because… idk, I don’t want to be mean, it’s probably my fault for not reading the first book as well (though it does say it can be read as a standalone, I honestly think they should stop advertising it as such) I DNF-ed it. I don’t really DNF books, I really try to finish everything I begin but 50% in and I just can’t bring myself to finish. It was so chaotic, and unrealistic. You’re telling me a bunch of kids have their own mansion and do wathever they want? They were all pretty much living on Arden’s back. It was icky. Made me uncomfortable. And their relationship went from 0 to 100 in the span of a day. Like what was that? No thank you.
Whilst I liked the characters and I thought that the storyline was interesting, it did feel a little repetitive. The main issue for me personally was the style of the writing. It was very exposition-heavy prose which I don't really enjoy. Also while I loved the fact that there was disability/chronic illness rep which was done well in that it not only showed what it was like for people living with them but also knowledge about the disability/chronic illness themselves, I didn't like that the majority of the females were the ones with the illnesses/disabilities while almost all the males in the book were completely healthy.
A book filled with humor, romance, drama, mental and physical health issues, family loyalty, and spicy chemistry.
Arden conquered my heart from the first moment I read about him, in this book the weight and pain he carries simply broke my heart.
Ella became one of my favorite protagonists, I liked that despite all her adversities, she always looks for a way to continue. they were definitely meant to be together. Their relationship started off on the wrong foot, but they showed that together and with the help of your family things can improve.
this one was a tiny bit better than the first one. the money aspect is still unrealistic and kind of annoying. the love story was really confusing with a lot of back and forth and a TON of telling instead of showing. idk if it’s bc i read it while i was mostly asleep but it was extremely hard to follow. i also noticed some misinformation about endometriosis and gastroparesis in the chapters which was really annoying. if you’re going to write about chronic illnesses, at least do your research and write it accurately. there was also so many lines and stories repeated that it felt like the author genuinely forgot what they wrote so they just kept writing it again. i also hate how both books leave off on major cliffhangers that come out of absolutely nowhere?? it’s clear this author isn’t for me lol
Okay the ending has me gasping and wanting more now. You can’t do that to a girl. Haha. The characters came together flawlessly. They all had this want and need to know them persona. Ella made me laugh, cry, and sad for her. Arden made me angry, annoyed, and sad for him. You could tell them both had a lot going on, but never told anyone. They worked well together and I’m glad their issues were worked out. I love how the author makes you feel for the characters and how she adds real life issues into her stories. I can’t wait for the next several books.
I absolutely loved this book!! I read the fist book about Chase and Yasmine and fell in love with this friend group instantly! 😍 Arden in the beginning is struggling with what happened to his sister. He winds up spiralling and winds up getting help from the least likely person, Ella. Their story was so cute to read and I loved seeing Arden fall in love. Especially since in the previous book he was such a player. If you are looking for a cute, funny, but also emotional book this is perfect for you! ❤
I enjoyed the story for the most part although the setting and some of the things that happens in the book felt a little unrealistic sometimes. I was a little bit worried about Ella for some of the things that she was doing like Ella, you might want to wait for a little bit longer until you do that... haha Regardless, I had a good time reading this book. I want all the slogan tees that Ella wears!
3.5/5 stars💐 it was so cute and I loved seeing the friend group all together again! the things that both Arden and Ella have to go through is so sad but I’m glad that they got the help that they both needed! I also love that this book talks about important topics and illnesses that people can have and are struggling with! Arden and Ella are so cute together and they definitely balance each other out! the characters in this book were so good to read about. I loved it a lot!💗
I loved Arden in book one so jumped right into his story! He was so focused on being there and helping his friends / family he really couldn’t handle the thought of letting his sister down. He did behave wrongly towards Ella in the beginning but what a redemption he had!! He more than made up for it. And Ella, although she likes her independence, Arden was just the perfect person for her. He needed someone to look after, and she needed someone to look after her and help with her illness. Arden didn’t even give it a second thought. How many rich guys have been written but not many have a heart of hold like Arden. I loved how they were so different and each had their own quirks but they still mstched together well.
Premise was interesting but the mark was missed - at least for me. The pacing of the book was off and there was lots of repetition. Certain things would be mentioned as if it were common knowledge about the characters (Arden or Ella) that just had never been mentioned before… and I read Chase & Yasmin’s story first. I can definitely see the potential this author has… with some refinement and strong developmental editing, these books could be amazing.
I love these people!!! All of them! I picked this book up and immediately got lost in their story. I didn’t come up for air until it was over - and I need more. I’m so excited that there is more to come. I am so happy for Arden and Ella - and for Chase and Yasmin. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel for Rhys and Ally. I am so entranced by this group of friends and all of their friends and family.

I loved this series, I was put off a bit by how this one started, but I trust Amber Davis and sure enough, I loved how it all came together and how it ended. It was amazing. The way Arden takes care of those surrounding him regardless of the situation is a kind of unconditional love we all need. I saw so much of myself in Ella it almost hurt but goodness I loved how her story ended. It was perfect.
This was just a perfect read! Amber has done it again with the relatable reads especially in regards to chronic pain and the difficulties women go through to be taken seriously in the medical world. I love how the characters are developing more and more through the books and to say that I am excited for the next book is an understatement!
