Ten-year-old Christina Rose is convinced she has "Ghost Radar," meaning she can sense when ghosts are nearby. Not fake, creepy movie ghosts, but REAL ghosts. Like the ghost of her mother, who died in a plane crash when Christina was only 3. Christina knows her mother's spirit came to visit her the night of the accident, but nobody believes her.
Now Christina and her family have moved from New York to North Klondike, California, and more strange things are happening. Christina's next-door neighbor and new best friend Roberto Wing is convinced the Roses' house is haunted by not one but two very scary ghosts. So Christina, her twin brother Danny, and Roberto form a ghost-hunters' club, determined to uncover the truth behind the bizarre happenings. As they investigate, they realize that everyone has a real ghost story to share--some funny, some foolish, and some quite frightening.
This book has haunted me for years; everything about this book somehow penetrated my sub conscious and stayed buried within my memory until it needed to be remembered.
The very eerie manner of this book freaked me out. Bits and pieces of this book collected in my memory and all of those stories that I had vaguely remembered were actually words written in a very haunting tale.
I recommend this to any kid, teen or adult who enjoys a good psychological spine tingling tale.
The Very Real Ghost Book of Christina Rose was one of my favorite books growing up, and reading it again as an adult with a fully developed frontal lobe hit completely differently. As a kid, I loved the mystery, the ghost-hunting adventure, and the excitement of trying to figure out what was real and what wasn’t. As I read this text now, I'm actually able to pull back all the layers that contribute to this incredible ghost story. On a deeper level, readers are able to see themes of grief, especially in the way children make sense of loss and the unknow n. I often found myself feeling Bad for Christina, an emotion I don't remember having when I read this novel the first time around. While this text still lives up to its eerie nature, there's a lot more emotion underneath the surface that I am better able to pinpoint now as an adult. This also helps me make sense of a lot of the decisions made by the characters, especially Christina. I think this book serves as a great reminder of how it's in our nature to hold on to our loved ones even when they depart. It's also a great reminder for me that the classic stories will always be classic stories, no matter how old you are!
(Fun Fact: This book was published 3 years before I was born)

I went through a phase in elementary school where I was obsessed with ghosts and the paranormal. I remember getting this book at a school book fair and really enjoying it. I thought the story was entertaining.
The only thing I can remember is how haunting this was and it stuck with me since about 4th grade and I'm in college now. I have to get my hands on this one again.
